Grimlock's deco isn't doing much for me, but damn that head sculpt makes it an easy buy. I could totally see that reused for a classics take on a medieval TF:TLK Optimus.

It's pretty obvious he had a shoulder port. PSX_20210511_133209.jpg

So unless I\'m wrong, would this make the first time we had a non show character that was updated in toy form since the original toy line? I\'m getting it just for the Grimlock figure. I had wanted a Dinobot toy really bad and when I was with my grandparents shopping they said I could have one toy. I saw the grimlock thinking it was a different colored dinobot at first and grabbed it. I didn\'t know anything about G1 at the time (I was like 8 or 9 at the time and never watched any of it) but it was one of my favorite Beast Wars figures, so it brings fond memories back to me.

I'm really hoping that it's missing paint on the chest and that a final version will have it....prolly wrong but I'm hoping here.

The upgrade was because Energon was limited so they were upgraded to be smaller and therefore consume fewer resources. It's no different than how electronics typically get smaller/slimmer as tech becomes more efficient. And they didn't acquire their organic beast modes until arriving on Earth. Depending on which continuity you follow, they didn't even acquire beast modes until Earth.

The first computers were rooms full of vacuum tubes. Compare that to NBA players wearing rings that house enough tech to tell them if they've got COVID.

Well, that's one way to get an Earth Mode Mirage. The back arms for the spoiler look different, and there is definitely some retooling going on.

Mirage sucks - so much for hoping he would be anything other than a lame remold where they changed very little. The only major thing they did was add a new joint in the shoulders.

So I'm guessing this version of Grimlock will be in the new Netflix series :)

I'm definitely going to sell the Grimlock. In it for the Mirage.

Logically it makes sense, but some of the Beast Era designs of preexisting G1 characters (in my opinion) look dumb to me. Aesthetically speaking I think many of them are a big leap backwards

Mechanical alt modes > organic ones (in my opinion)

Not to mention all the G1 characters wouldn't have stood a chance against the unstable energon. In universe, the ability to shield themselves in organic matter is a huge upgrade, whether or not you like the aesthetics of it.

Doubt it. It's only going to be 6 episodes and will include focus on the G1 characters already established during the previous 12. Whatever BW characters will be there will likely be limited to Dinobot (who we've seen) and at least the three who've gotten toys (Cheetor, Rattrap, Primal).

I'm still banking on Megatron being reformatted in to a T-Rex once he nabs the AllSpark.

Well it\'s nice that this time the Amazon exclusive isn\'t necessary two impeccably iconic characters that would be vital to a collection of that particular franchise
