Along with the tank threads, I painted the details on the arms. They should have painted these instead of the energon leakage. IMG_20210802_070423.jpg

    Wow. u did great!
Better than all black or purple plastic.
If there were still Takara LG counterparts, more likely these parts have been painted.

Shoulders fixed. No breaks, stress or other damage to the parts.

looks better now and was easy after reading up on it and just going for it without anxiety of breaking the darn thing.

Tried to do the shoulder fix today. Was difficult, lengthy, and I ended up goring the plastic on the left arm. Then when I used a lighter to erase the stress marks I burnt the plastic slightly, (just the surface though, easily cleaned off) all because Hasbro was too cheap to use screws.

Man, imagine paying $80 after tax for a figure and not even getting it assembled correctly? I definitely prefer the shoulders fixed, but even though it mechanically doesn't affect the toy it's still such a shit move that the majority came misassembled.

I’ve had my copy for a couple of weeks now and I have to say I’m really liking him. Now that the “new toy” excitement has passed I still find myself wanting to pick him up and mess with him and that’s high praise - figures like Cyclonus are brilliant yet I just find him a bit soulless.
Galvatron ticks all the right boxes for me; he’s big, solid and chunky. I don’t know what it is but he feels like he has some character to him.

I haven’t done the shoulder fix as honestly I really don’t mind them being backwards at all.

The weird battle damage paint is certainly an odd choice. I like it myself as it makes him feel more like a metal robot with tarnished surfaces. I completely understand why people hate it though - he didn’t look that way in the 86 movie and despite being an almost perfect piece to sit with your 86 collection, this extra paint makes him seem out of place with the other clean bots.

I’m glad I picked him up. Originally I really disliked him when I saw promo shots as his proportions looked way off. In hand though he’s very nice indeed

Yeah, love the heft. He just feels good and solid in hand. The shoulders don't bother me (honestly, I weirdly like them better in robot mode), but they don't make the wheels all on the same plane as naturally in cannon mode. As for the battle damage, I like it. It makes it seem like he just came out of the lava on Thrull (I think this image from the wiki is from Studio Ox in an artbook).

Coz he wasnt made to be 86' G1 accurate in the first place. Obviously it was based on Kingdom WFC series. Ull even notice he doesnt hav a goatee in here.

But we can always make customs if we wanted it to be real G1.

He very clearly was. And even if he wasn't no other Kingdom figures have battle damage, so there's no reason he should. It's completely random.

Except he wasn't. ER/Kingdom Galvatron is one of the few non-Beast characters not based on the Generations toy. And yet both the toy and the Kingdom CGI model both have the chin strap, it's just not coloured in. (because both are based on G1 Galvatron)

    You've got it completely backwards.

The kingdom cartoon is based on the kingdom toy.
The kingdom toy is based on G1.

But it's not. The Kingdom toy wasn't ready in time for the show, just like the BW characters and Elita/Arcee/Bumblebee from Siege. That's why it's of visibly lower quality/detail and doesn't match the toy's sculpt at all.

This is correct, though. All the WFC toys are based on the original versions of the characters, with the crap cartoon just using the toy CAD files. (or using really poorly made stand-ins for those who don't as mentioned above)

I don't know what you mean by this. So the "goatee" is not coloured in, that's not at all evidence that it's not based on the G1 character. The Kingdom toy lacks that detail in paint just like most TF figures lack painted details they ought to have, and the Kingdom cartoon model is, again, a shoddily crafted one because the toy wasn't ready in time to use its model. I mean just look at the lack of detail it has compared to Nemesis Prime in that screenshot.

Yeah based on G1 but with the alterations.. color.. updated design.. it wasnt as much as G1 faithful but rather a Kingdom cartoon toy.

Well its just odd bcoz the toy wasnt ready they decided not adding original color detailings when u can always have g1 animation source materials readily available anywhere. Ofcourse surely hasbro permitted this to happen and they willingly allowed the animators for it to be somewhat different. Lawsuits comes if these changes pushed thru that wasnt agreed on by both parties:D

Its clearly not the same design as the cartoon. The colour being different from G1 is because Hasbro always makes its Galvatron toys these colours, and the updated details is what every toy Hasbro makes gets, regardless of if they appear in fiction. Even the SS86 figures have increased surface detail. It’s pedantry to look at the minor differences for the sake of toy design and pretend like the Kingdom toy is not clearly based on G1 Galvatron.

It’s not odd at all. Transformers don’t usually have coloured details like that on their faces. Even the Studio Ox Galvatron above doesn’t have it coloured. It’s not surprising at all that both RT and Hasbro left that detail silver. It’s not like the Kingdom Galvatron in the show has a crown or helmet all that accurate the G1 Galvatron.

Im saying its odd if they truly wanted it to be be 86 galvatron to have iconic details missing. Hes a major boss character and not some midtier or some lackey or whatever. Basing a character to a source in this case G1.. does not necessarily mean it dont need to be changed. They must have intended it to be a new interpretation of Galvatron.

To be clear ive said its based on G1 cartoon but the product result was more on Kingdom animation model likeness. Lol it can have both.

:lol  His goatee is not an "iconic detail."

No, they mustn't have. That's like saying SS86 Hot Rod isn't meant to be the G1 character because of the yellow roof hinge. Cost-saving measures like a single missing paint app is not an indication of reinvention.

This is a really nonsensical take. By that logic, is Netflix Bumblebee a completely new rendition of the character, because he doesn’t have the Autobot insignia on his chest? Or does SS86 Slug not belong in the Studio Series line because his tail kibble isn’t accurate to the G1 cartoon?

Perhaps. But it couldve been better if they did that paint app instead of that battle damage effect. But its just fine coz easier to add the goatee than the damage effect for those who wanted weathering.
