Been quite a long while since I posted a new custom, but it's good to be back in the game..

On Kingdom Galvatron, I removed the battle damage from one & decided to paint it in a blue shade like some of the animation. I took the head apart & sanded the top of the helmet down (more rounded instead of pointed), then sanded down the chin area & rounded the bottom of the helmet a bit to make the head look more like the animation. I've added some red details to the head, eyes, and top of the shoulder pauldrons. I added silver to the neck area, the arms, & the belt area. The last two images are of the progress on other parts so far. Also planning to work on those feet with styrene & maybe sculpting. Looking good old buddy! Nice to see you back in action. That's a perfect blue for the job. I sure do love me some vallejo paints too!

Hopefully this is a start of many things to come.

The blueish purple indeed is working better than the original. Surface looks a little rough from photos, but still, great paintwork.

Now I wonder why HasTak went with PURPLE rather than something more indigo between, say, the shades used for Kingdom Cyclonus and SS Scourge.

Looks good! Like you I also sanded down the conehead top of the helmet and rounded off the bottom. Makes a world of difference to the head sculpt IMO.

    Great color-matching, too.

Before seeing this, I was ok with the purple used by Hasbro. Now I’m not. Thanks a lot…

Looks good! Personally, I would have gone a shade darker, but still much more cartoon accurate than the Hasbro paint job. I noticed that you nicked his face. Accident during sanding?

Thanks! Good to be back at it! I've been working on some stuff, minor repaints, detail work, this guy, Ultra Magnus & Megatron (I'll share those at some point). Also dusted off the styrene to start planning out new feet for this sucker. Got the base pieces cut & sanded, but planning out how I want to make them more G1 toon styled, instead of the block feet we got. It will attach to the bottom & stay on in bot & alt mode. I'llupdate this thread & share something soon on this.

    Thanks, I thought so too.

Thanks, still working on it, so the coats aren't finished.

For some reason, they keep choosing this crappy shade. Yes, he was shown in this shade a few times, but from the 86 movie & series, he was equally a more blue shade. I always liked that much better.

Thanks! I found a shade I wanted to use & simply cleaned & started painting the purple. I'll add more details as I go & paint a few other areas in this shade as well.

Thanks, I'm digging it so far.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was going for, a shade more along those lines.

Thanks! I've seen yours & love it also. It looks so much better than what we got, which isn't bad, just needed some help.

    Thanks, Eric! Me too!

    Thanks! Glad you like 'em!

LOL! Get to work! I was ok at first too, then noticed just how purple he was. Had to tone it down......a lot.

I'm hoping, I'd want that one too. ‍♂️

I like both too, which is why I got 2, but I needed that blue!

D&D warpaints (Kraken Blue). I'll update this thread soon with images for those wanting to try the exact shade.

The figure is darker than some of the images, due to workbench lighting. The shade on the head comparison images is pretty close to this image.

Thanks! It came in box like that, just haven't tried fixing it yet.
