I have him a few weeks but I'm afraid to open him and be disappointed. I'm a massive galvatron fan but I just don't want to be disappointed with him

    It’s fine…
I have both versions and the lower shoulders are more animation accurate and the fixed shoulders are kind of round balls that don’t look as if they connect to his body they just float there. It doesn’t matter they (transformers toys) always have something that’s just not quite right.
Open it and enjoy it he’s still the best figure in years.

Can’t say for certain the state of retail in general. But my Walmart can’t properly restock the whole toy section.

This probably isnt the right place to ask this, but I couldn't find a better place, but I'm trying to remove the battle damage on Galvatron and I'm finding 70% a bit slow, but the only other kind I have is 99%. Would that be fine to use or would it do damage to the figure?

I used 99% and it didn't seem to damage the plastic, but all I did was wet a Q-tip and was very methodical. It really took the lower legs damage off but the arms and chest took a while.

The misassembled shoulders do look wrong in terms of following sculpted details on the shoulders.

You don't have to open the packaging, you can see if the shoulders are right or wrong in package.

The leg stuff didn't bother me. But for the chest and arms, I ended up using the 70% I mentioned to weaken it and then finished it with a vinyl eraser.

Question for people doing the MP Sideswipe hand switch:

I'd imagine the KO of the figure works fine?
And, I'd have to paint these right?
Not a big fan of having to paint stuff up myself, especially hands.

I've never seen 99%. I used 91% and it turned out fine. It will not damage the toy's plastic - however, it will take ANY of the paint off the toy, so be extremely careful how you hold it so nothing leaks onto paint you want to keep (especially his chest logo and abs). Also, the dissolved paint doesn't invisibly disappear - it turns into a thin liquid film like soap scum and you have to wash that off; a wet cottonball will do fine.

Yep! I use Q-tips and just flip it around to the dry end to do mop up duty.

Very nice, I just order the tools. Less than $7.50 and I'll probably have use for them afterwards for my car. I'll attempt the fix myself this weekend.

I actually had to pop apart some panels in my fridge last night, and that tool set was clutch. Worth the $7.

But any sort of perceived “animation accuracy” you obtain with the misassembled version is immediately nullified by the distracting greebling on top of the shoulders.

It’s not worth the trade off, IMO. The version with the correctly assembled shoulders was always the intent of the design.

The Walmart-exclusive Netflix line is over. Maybe you’re referring to the Takara “Premium Finish” line?

Excellent tip man. Got the tools today and already flipped the arms, with the only signs of stress on the tools themselves. While misassemble, at least Hasbro used very good plastic on it because you have to bend the two shoulder halfs A LOT. Looks so much better imho.
