I really disliked armada/energon aside from the decepticons. What made that era so good for bad guys? Was it banking on dogshit designs work well on autobots so we gotta make the bad guys super powerful and weird designs?

Yeah, I really like the way the blue damage looks when it's darker. It both adds some saturation, and makes it look more like a real undercoat color, as if the material Unicron made him out of is normally blue, but he has purple paint on top.

No, but if the figure took a tumble, those could break and leave a sharp edge. Being rotatable helped them be more streamlined in a kids hands for swoosh-play in jet mode and then if the figure fell, they wouldn't create sharp edges to pass the drop test.

I think because they weren't equally hampered by gimmicks. Virtually every Autobot in Energon had to also have a combined mode as either a torso or pants. The Decepticons didn't have any design mandates.

No, because G1 was repurposing Japanese lines to make one for the west. CR was taking figures from the same line to pad out the series.

You're right. I had forgotten that Takara didn't sell Transformers in Japan. Oh, wait....

Oh man, I'm just messing around seriously. It's been a zany morning for me already LOL

However with CR/RID it's interesting to note,"Robots in Disguise was the first (and thus far, only) time an existing Japanese line was brought over wholesale to the U.S."

I'd very much like a new X-Brawn figure that utilized contemporary engineering. I absolutely loved that figure (Still do really) with his massive left arm clutching his grill protector like a bladed brass knuckley thing. After not caring for BW as a whole the new toy line was a breath of fresh air.

I may be a bit out of touch with this, but has there been any official confirmation of a toy deco version of this being released, ie. Generations Select?

There hasn't been any official confirmation of any kind of Galvatron at all, just leaked info of the toy version (yeah, as a Generations Select) and test shots of this movie deco.

I assume (but don't know) that it was a Takara design? As it was their (Japanese) show. But I don't know if the design originated from america, japan, or both at the concept stage.
After Beast Wars/Machines ended the next American show (and character models) was not until 2007 with Animated, so I just assume that most of the original designs from UT Trilogy and RID being anime were likely Takara designs.
Again I don't know this, and maybe it's public record that it's not?

Some of which were repaints of repaints of repaints if take RID Ruination for example

We're this close to Hasbro's event and no YouTube reviews.

    Huh.

Galvatron’s renders confirm it, the copies people have in hand have mis-assembled shoulders.

The altmode as with rodimus is once again a dud. The grey block bit at the back, looks to eliminate any chance of tilting the cannon up or towards the floor to aim at other bots. Also doesn't have the long back fin.the matrix chain is also crappy. These should have been instant buys for me, but I'm not buying either. Very disappointing

via @Fc203 on instagram, it would seem that the shoulders are a case of mass misassembly, as the render shows the smooth part of the disk on the top, while the photo has it upside down, so that clears that up. kinda dissapointed that this is probably going to be how he'll be released, and that theres no good fix for it :/[IMG][IMG]
