Best pictures yet!
He looks great.
no chance. everything is pinned. Only solution is pin cover
Thank you! It makes a difference!
Still, a cover is a good solution if it absolutely has to be hidden. I don't see it as being an eyesore, as the reverse side just has a square hole.
Considering this is probably how the shoulders are meant to look when properly transformed:
I think his proportions look much better. Really the only thing I don't like about it are the face and "battle damage" (mostly at the legs).
1. Thank you for posting pictures.
2. While I'm actually "hungriest" for the Marvel colors version, I think they've got me for any deco of this they put out. A deep blue instead of purple sans "damage", Energon Megatron colors, whatever.
Absolutely gorgeous. Thank-you for doing this. Personally his shoulder height never bothered me, but what I really love about these photos is that they reveal the actual geometry of the head sculpt much more accurately. Especially the space between his cowl and his face and that he doesn't look as elongated in-hand. He looks excellent alongside Scourge and Cyclonus too imo.
And I thought paying nearly 100 was expensive...
Nah, I'm pretty sure pinhead on the reverse side is intended. "Saggy shoulders" is very accurate to the G1 character model. But the fact that the reverse orientation is possible for those who are used to their Transformers with squared-up shoulders is certainly a great option to have.
Each arm is held by at least 3 flathead pins. It won’t be fun.
Wheres the naysayers now
looks like a totally different figure.
Sorry @Phamduc, but you did such a great job
They will come. At least surely 3 of them. Watch.
Well if saggy shoulders is accurate, than I think this is a case of "G1 accuracy in plastic form is not always a complement" and the supposed mistranformed version looks better imo.
He still has the wide chest, but that's more because he needs to turn his purple angular chest into a grey round cannon, so the figure itself isn't at fault.
Thank you, Phamduc. I know you really didn't want to have to take pics. But these are the best ones we've seen yet.
The pics of him with Cyclonus and Scourge are what I wanted to see most. And I'm happy with what we're getting.
His chest being wider than it is tall is also quite accurate to his character model.
The biggest deviation that throws a lot of his sense of proportion out of whack is that unlike the animation model, the toy doesn't/can't countersink his shoulders halfway into his "lats". If they cut his shoulders in half and mounted them closer to his body, then they'd look strange and undersized in most other poses, especially compared to his thick biceps. Otherwise, they'd need to engineer some sort of telescoping system, so that his shoulders could swing forward without clearance issues.
It came up earlier in the thread, but I highly suspect Floro Dery developed Galvatron's final animation design with influence from male body-builders. His unusually sloped shoulders evoke pronounced trapezius muscles, he's got much more massive biceps than standard TFs, the lateral "wings" that overlap the arms/shoulders, and of course the defined abs. Also, thick thighs and calves. When you part him out that way, Galvatron actually has very unique anatomy and proportions compared to practically any other G1 TF. This is the first toy rendition of him that seems to actively recognize that, instead of squaring up his posture like every other common TF design.
Looks a bit better. Kinda wish if they were gonna put battle damage and spilled energon on him, as well as making him so top heavy, like a brawler, that they'd just embrace the Siege warbot look and cover him in mechanical detailing. I say Siege look, but most of the Earthrise Decepticons had it as well. They only ditched it with Kingdom and I think I'm the one person who wishes they hadn't.
Wait, why do the new pictures have better shoulders?
You mean the type who won't get it regardless, pseudo 3rd party MP wannabees who expect the quality levels at a $50 price range aka
