The news story on the front page says Kingdom Dinobot has a "more realistic" raptor mode.

Uh the only difference between this and the 1996 one is that now Dinobot has scales (or maybe they were going for pebbled skin).
Either way you slice it, for a feathered animal, that's LESS realistic

Love that bot mode. Probably not going to transform him more than once because the alt mode looks so silly, but $30 for a nice action figure isn't bad these days. I'm transforming my figures less and less out of fear of breaking the things. The new pictures make him look better than ever.

I agree. I don't think we need to be that explicit with our use of language regarding this topic, so that we can all enjoy the site and make posts within the confines/guidance of the site rules, too.

God these beast molds need paint. Can you imagine what a TakaraTomy unleashed could do with him? You know they are dying to make him look good.

I'd be shocked if these don't get "fixed" down the road. The molds are way too good to be completely wasted by having only 3 paint apps.

He also doesn't have mile-wide hips, which is a big plus.

He looks so good, but so many paint apps missing.

Too many paint apps needed, is more like.

They essentially decoed the crap out of his top half, considering it more important than his lower half. They just seem to have painted his kneecaps, just because they'd look really weird with that one piece that supposed to be one solid part being half-and-half.

OMG, look at all the gold detailing and striping they missed out on. By now we should come to expect retail figures with highly involved transformations to also be painted as good as the MP figures. What a load of crap. Hard pass

My only complaints with how Dinobot looks are the missing front teeth on the raptor and the weird hands on that mode. Everything else looks phenomenal. I might paint the sword silver as well.

This. Press F in the chat for what the Takaratomy version would look like without Hasbro's insidious brand "unification" iron grip and hindrance. Such undermining tactics....

Something about this feels kinda cheap it’s either the fact they didn’t bother with the tail or how the figure looks under painted but i’m a sucker for beast wars figures so I’ll probably get him anyways.

Fully expected of you, mind. But still

There was no strong-arming involved. Through "brand unification", Takara-Tomy dropped their half-measure efforts of trying to make mainline toys premium, and put more effort into simply making more premium figures. It's not like TakaraTomy didn't gain anything out of the agreement either. They stopped having to wait ~6 months to deliver their version of a product, curbing reverse importation. Do you even understand what it means to be brand partners? One side doesn't have the ability to unilaterally make decisions.

Hasbro hasn't stopped them at any point of the way, when they wanted to get anything done on their own. Legendary Optimus Prime? Seacons? Star Convoy? Super Megatron? The entire Masterpiece line?

If I'm gonna blame anybody on this, it's gonna be the artists at Mainframe, for not making the damned show model toy accurate, and taking its rather simple deco and covering it in so many extra trim elements that any toy would need to be double its normal budget to accommodate them all. (Of course I'm being facetious here. HasTak does what makes sense for the toy aisle. Mainframe did what made sense for TV).

Better this than what's going on with the Netflix series ;)

I love the way everything happened. Up until today the original BW toys are out of scale with one another but great toys all things considered and the cartoon made them look cool and everyone itching for more accurate toys. As engineering improvements would have it we now get them. Just happy for every Beast Wars fan who lived long enough to see 2021 :)

Well, that tail doesn't not look like a dog dick. Interesting choice.

Didn't you just describe a whole bunch of Cyberpunk 2077 devs?

And because they were so proud of their work, they even "designed" pants that didn't work properly :D .

I just think the leg could use at least 1 big gold area on the front leg bone and some blue paint on the circle jount area , no need for all gold stripe , it would make the figure less barebone. Ah well. Still gorgeous tho
