I didn't even think we were getting more Kingdom figures. If we're getting still getting cores then we'll probably also get some more big guys. Cool.
this is a weird flex for a character that hasn’t seen much love until recently, and who is in fact NOT Optimus OR Bumblebee…. -A.S.
I\'m not interested in the miniaturized versions of normal characters, but the mold does look good. Definitely better than the CW one. I wonder if we\'ll ever see any of these molds used for standard scale characters?
Huh. Neat enough, I guess. Glad to see Hot Rod becoming part of the \"core\" cast, no pun intended. That means \'Bee can stay the \"big brother\" character while someone else can go from impulsive rookie to seasoned veteran over the course of a given iteration of the line.
They're going to be making a lot of Hot Rods, forever, because he's popular and people buy him. I'd just get used to it.
I would like to start off by saying that I'm not trying to convince anyone of my opinion, but rather just saying what it is. Some people are really excited for this figure and I'm happy for them; I don't think they're wrong for being excited or anything like that. I do feel like a lot of characters are getting remade over and over when some characters haven't been updated once, and I wish some of those unupdated characters had gotten new toys instead. The reason I used Bumblebee and Optimus in my exaggerated prediction is because it affects them probably more than anyone, with the idea being eventually they'll be remade so often they won't even have room to remake other characters. I don't actually think this, but I do think the difference in the frequency of new figures between certain characters will get even more drastic than it already is. We got the Classics: cool update. Then we got the CW: a little pointless and out of scale but hey at least it wasn't using a new mold slot. Then we got the TR:.. instead of someone who was actually a headmaster. Then we got the PotP: honestly just points for creativity on this one, and with the gimmick they were doing he was an obvious choice. Then we got the Studio Series: massive improvement to the Classics, so fair enough. Then we got Kingdom Rodimus Prime: with the size difference and whatnot this is obviously warranted, only mentioning it because the core bot is pretty much a really big Hotrod and I want to be comprehensive. Then we have this: another out of scale Hotrod instead of someone else that actually is this size. I would say he's been getting quite a bit of love since CW. I get the idea that certain characters sell better, but how many kids really care about Hotrod? How many know who he is? Super tired so I hope this made sense. Cheers.
yeah, I get you. Roddy is one of my all time faves, so I may be a bit biased about how much is not enough love, lol. Cheers back at you! -A.S.
I think maybe hasbro know about all the money some people spend on 3rd party legends class and wants in. I also always think about the casual transformers fan too, like maybe someone who is a fan of some other 80's property that just wants a few characters, like i like the NECA tmnt stuff, but i don't need every side character that ever appeared in a comic or show, but like I'd want some more prominent side characters like casey jones, usagi yojimbo or leatherhead.
If I see him, I will get him. Loving all these new Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime figures this year. I always disliked him as a kid but as an adult he has become one of my favorite characters. Especially now that they can call him Hot Rod again!
Seems pretty legit....which is unfortunate becuase I don't like this. At all. Leg kibble is a lot even for core class, the arms and legs desparately need some color breakup, and the alt mode looks weirdly elongated, though that may just be down to the angle of the shot. I get it, as a core class there are budgets and restrictions, but I feel like they could have done a lot better, if this is real.
