I\'d much rather have Haley Steinfeld than who whoever this is

Comments like this are so dumb.
You don't even know what their prior performances have been like to compare them to Hailee Steinfeld so how can you definitively say that you'd prefer her over them?
Like, what, are these movies supposed to only cast super mainstream actors so a handful of Transformers nerds who don't pay attention to anything other than sci-fi and superhero fiction don't complain about them personally not knowing who these actors are?
Some of you are so bloody infantile it's unreal...

I haven't seen any of either Layne or Fishback's prior work, but I'm not so childish that if I don't recognise an actor that I assume they must be bad or will give a bad performance.

I actually don't know that it's gonna be bad, or that either of these leads will be bad, because the movie hasn't even started filming yet.

Now, I may have thought Age of Extinction was an absolute toilet movie, and feel fully justified in never, ever wanting to watch The Last Shite Knight, but given Bumblebee seemed to be a much needed step in the right direction (I haven't seen the full thing yet purely because I'm terrible at getting around to watching movies), I'm willing to give the rebooted Transformers movies a chance because I really do want them to be good instead of seething about how "i KnOw It'S gOnNa Be BaD" for no apparent reason other than wanting to be negative just for the sake of it.

Also Lorenzo "Living Proof We Don't Live In A Meritocracy" di Bonaventura apparently not being attached in any capacity is just an inherently good thing as well.

Oddly, while I know this is tongue and cheek as well as the post you're replying to, that would be how you'd do it (not literally a whole planet :D  but scaled sets mixed with CGI blended together) if one wanted to go full CGI . I tried to make this point earlier but it got lost in all the nonsense. It certainly would've been done that way back in the late 90s and prior.

Just because you haven’t seen her in a movie doesn’t mean she’s a bad actress. You don’t even have enough experience with Hailee judging off the way you spell her name.

Idk if this is a joke or not.. but Dominique is playing one of the leading human characters. Optimus is still likely a lead character.

They could also do a miniature practical set like they did with Blade Runner 2049’s city, and it looked great! That’s actually not a bad idea and could help it look more realistic

I'm not sure if that's become a thing because of Prime but I'd like if they didn't treat CJ like Kenny or Leomon. :lol

Star Wars gets it right every time, including Death Star scenes. But then again, I want live action, not a video game.

You mean that thing that's a space station with corridors for HUMANS, and is fully CGI or done with small models for the outside? That's either not comparable or is just as much CGI as the opening to bumblebee... Your issue with transformers is that they can't film real life alien planets made of metal who have giant robotic organism running around...

I'll say it til my dying day: Transformers absent the sense of scale that comes from an Earth setting is just the pits. Yeah, I'll give you a couple of minutes in Act 1 to establish where they come from, but get to Earth and turn into cars and trucks and planes and things ASAP. That's the point. And human characters reacting to them is built into that.

I mean, JMO and all. If Cybertron's your jam, you do you.

I don't know how to tell you this but Optimus Prime and the other autobots besides for Big Daddy are not real, the Decepticons aren't real either, they're all cartoons made in a computer like in Tron or Reboot. Ergo, the planet, Cybertron, is not real and also is in a computer, unlike practical sets for space stations for human actors, who do not live in a computer, like in Tron or Reboot.

Not to pour nitrous on this coal-seam fire of a thread, but "they're just metal people standing around and talking, why aren't they transforming" was one of the criticisms of MTMTE/Lost Light that I was never able to accept as valid.*

Like, the entire book was a human-haters dream in that regard. All Transformers, all the time. What were you expecting when you took them away from Earth?

*They transformed plenty, but that's besides the point.

I'm getting a GTA Transformers style movie vibe so far. We'll see how this pans out.

I totally agree with you. It's a brand about robots that disguise themselves as familiar everyday objects. That's the whole premise and defining gimmick of the brand, right back to the original toys. Humans are inherently tied to the idea. I do think a robot-only story here and there is fine. But to me they should really be the exception. When they remove the human element, it begins to feel like just another generic mecha/superhero franchise.

I hope Laurence Fishburne plays the lead male human role along side Dom Fishback. What a combo.

Throw in a few human support actors:
    Owen Whaleson
    Marlin Scorsese
    Mackeral J Fox
    Mark Whaleburg
Sharky Mark & the Fishy bunch
