Kato here to share my interview with Byrin from MMC. so glad I got the chance to sit down with this awesome fellow for an episode of Kato's Kollection Presents!

Good interview. And as expected, 3Ps do look at TFW thread activity as an indicator of consumer interest in a given product. Guess we need people to start posting more in the Ocular Max Autobot cassette threads so they see there's a lot of latent interest in those figures that is masked by the fact that they've given us so little to talk about in those threads. It's unfortunate that those threads have low post counts primarily because we're all like, yep, we want them, the designs look great, and we need them to complete our collections, but there's not much more to say about them.

There's also just way less controversy to release cassette bots than there is to attempt an all-in-one combiner and all the discourse that spawns just on the premise alone. Heh.

The other challenge is there are four separate threads for them, so the activity was dispersed.

Now if only we could get more fembots : )

Upscaled (and tweaked) reformatted Azalea (and the rest of the reformatted fembots to voyager size), a accurate IDW Nautica and Firestar, Velocity, Chromia and a Sarah Stone-ish version of Windblade.

 

I'd absolutely be on board with that! I'd love more 3P Fembot love

 

The fact that there's no 3P Nautica yet, out of the zillion other IDW 3P figs, is mind-blowing.

And I'd take Lotty and Windblade in a second.

Based on what Byrin said, it's cancelled altogether...as well as the Jetfire remold, unfortunately

 

I'd like an mp windblade and Chromia (bodyguard) too., along with tf prime bike arcee, and an elita1 too. Hopefully, if mmc has no interest, then maybe Firestar or someone else does.

 

Also, I love talking to fellow collectors. I'd be more than happy to have anyone willing to talk about our little hobby is welcome. Just let me know.

 

I am unsure how well “MP Sized” IDW-only bots would sell.

There isn’t enough IDW “MP sized” bots out there; there also isn’t a huge interest/zero interest (some even getting triggered at words I-D-W) with the Sunbow/1984-only crowd.

There is already a great many comic/IDW sized bots at voyager size and I think it would make most sense for MMC/SXS/Planet X/etc to continue to produce bots that line up with our current collections.

I am a huuuuge fan of the IDW Fembots and would probably purchase them as single display pieces (especially Nautica) but would always feel “bad” about not having them fit in with the rest of my collection.

I still have such high hopes that byrin, Griffith and/or RVDA will give us a Nautica someday in the near-near future.
