Hello all, I'm new here :)

I have a question about the Kabaya Lucky Draw Starscream model kit. I found info about a lucky draw convoy that was all chrome, but nothing on this figure.

I got it when I was collection TFs about 10yrs or so ago (stopped because of other issues). But anyway, I came across this kit in my closet, I had forgotten about it, and was wondering if anyone knew anything about it? Year of release or anything :)

It looks just like this, but its all chrome.

Its in a little white box and still sealed unassembled in the original baggie. I can take pictures of it, if that will help.

    Thanks for any help!

Super-rad, I love it. It's new to me though, wish I had info for you.

I'm such a dork, I had to laugh at my ability to tell the original Starscream lineart from the others, even uncolored!

Ras knows a lot about these. They did a lot of Lucky Draw kits like this. I've seen an Inferno one as well.

Very nice! LD Kabaya kits are rare. I starting to doubt that I'll ever find a LD Kabaya Optimus Prime. :-(

    Very cool!

Starscream is part of the first series of chrome campaign kits by Kabaya. They are of the larger size Kabaya mould kits released in Japan c1985.

The others from this series are Optimus Prime, Soundwave and Sideswipe. There was also a large box giftset containing all 4.

The second series of chrome Kabaya prize kits included Megatron, Reflector, Inferno and Red Alert. To my knowledge there was no additional giftset of 4 in the second series though.

There are also the smaller chrome Kabaya kits, which were gumball machine prizes. These included Windcharger, Ravage, Franzy and other small kits.

In addition to these, some Masterforce small chrome Kabaya prize kits were made. I'm not entirely sure how these were offered though, or indeed if they were released at all.

The large kits, such as your Starscream, are accompanied by a congratulatory note from Takara.

    Here's my Prime:

    Hope this helps.

Those are sweet, never knew they existed either. Are they transformable kits or do you just build them in the mode you want? Or do they just get built in robot mode.
Also, who is that red seeker jet in the first picture of this thread?

    Hey, no problem guys.

Yeah they are transformable. You take each piece off the sprue, snap to assemble, and they're fully transformable. 95% of the large kits transform exactly like their toy counterparts.

The smaller, gumball prizes are in gumballs and baggies. Still unassembled and on sprues though.

The red Seeker in the first pic is the regular, non-prize version of the Starscream kit. All of the large Kabaya kits use 3 basic colours. The kits from the first 2 series' were red/black/silver.

    Wow thanks Ras!
Seeing the pictures of the others was way cool. Yeah, this starscream has that congratuatory note as well, but I can't read lick of it and didn't know what it was :p  Your Optimus box looks to be in a little better shape than this one, one of the corners is ripped :/

I read they stand around 4" tall when assembled.

Thanks again for filling me in on the history of him!
