Okay, so in TF1, the Autobots claimed they "Learned Earth's Languages, through the worldwide web."

So, I guess the Decepticons did the same, right?

Well, according to my perspective, I think only the smarter Decepticons (Megatron, Starscream, etc.) learned it, while the others just spoke Cybertronion and/or learned it as they were on Earth?

Just something that confuses me since most of the Decepticons don't speak any Earth language except about 5-6.

 

Shockwave is smarter than most of the main Decepticons, and he didn't learn any Earth language.

 

Some of them don't really give a damn about earth.

 

Same reason foreigners speak their native tongues when going into other countries, even if they know the language of where they are now.

The way I see it, the Decepticons don't have to speak English, so why would they? The only reason the main ones do is because, well, they're the main villains. If you wanted you could assuem Meagtron speaks English because he stayed physically dormant for so long while his brain was still active (angrily announcing himself by name after decades of being called "NBE-1") and Starscream, Soundwave, etc. speak English for his sake.

What does that have to do with anything?

And don't you say "we're ants to them" because that is so not even a close comparrison. At least we're more like hamsters or cats.

Just because he said "Optimus!" doesn't mean he speaks English. Optimus is probably pronounced Optimus in Cybertronian.

 

He had some other lines as well, like "Driller-bot is thirsty"

• Just because they don't speak in Cybertronian doesn't mean they don't understand it.
• Having them speak in Cybertronian helps to reaffirm that they are alien and gives them more character.
• I would have preferred if there were some scenes where the Autobots spoke in Cybertronian as well.

 

Another question that just popped in my head:
When Sentinel was first revived, during the first few seconds he tackled Optimus, was he speaking Cybertronion or just gibberish?

 

I would have loved that. At least between Optimus and Ironhide. It would have added at how long they have been friends.
