So, what would you go out and do if you were declared "dead"?

 

If i was declared dead, nothing would change, I don't have much of a life anyway

 

I'd go to Canada.

 

So, we've got a judge who refuses to declare a living man as alive.

We've got a woman who wants him to stay legally dead, because she can't afford to pay back the money she wasn't legally entitled to.

And we've got a man who disappeared for 19 years and owes his ex-wife $26,000 in back child support.

Real winners here.

 

Ouch, I feel for this guy. Being declared dead when clearly your not with hardy anyway to reverse it...harsh. Oh well, what if he dressed like a zombie?   Technically in a weird way, he can kinda be considered one...that sounds weird I know.

 

What would I do if I were declared dead? Lots of shuffling, moaning, and "braaaaiiiiinnnns"

So could he go on a bank robbing or murder spree without consequence?

 

That would be interesting to see...how the hell do you book someone who "doesn't have a social security number" anymore? Trying to use it he could get more charges for falsifying information. Damn that's a tough spot to be in. EFF it, he should change his name, and apply for a different number, even though that may not be a possibility either. Damn, what the hell does he do to live?

 

Quite possibly as with him being legally dead i am not sure they could legally charge him or that he could be legally sued in civil court.

This is kind of unexplored territory legally speaking, usually when this happens and the guy turns up alive he is declared legally alive with little fuss.

 

This is exactly what I though - legally a dead man can't break the law.

 

I'm confused, was he actually missing or is this a case of mistaken/stolen identity?
If he was missing wouldn't he pop up and say, hey there, no, I'm ok, I'm not missing (this actually happened to me this past week, I'll tell that story in another thread.) I mean I know he abandoned his rental home but that doesn't automatically declare one missing, it seems like there is a part of this story that is missing.

Maybe they would treat him as an illegal alien and deport him. Not sure where they would deport him to though.
