JRX is made of translucent plastic painted over, which makes his windows more realistic and overall appearance look more slick, but also means that it looks tacky if the paint scratches
Truth is, whichever one you can get for the best price, go for it. They're so much alike it's not really worth any extra cash for JRX. I've got both and they are both outstanding toys. On the shelf from a distance you can't really tell them apart anyway. -rain-
i dont really think there's that much/any difference between the car/robots and RID versions of the toys other than RID has more Autobot symbols painted on either way you'll have a great figure! so go with whatevers cheapest for you
If I'm remembering correctly, Railspike's light-up Blaster was retooled from the J-Five version, lengthening the barrel of the weapon a bit. I don't recall if this affects the train hitching ability or not as it would stick out a bit farther than it would on JRX (not as flush), but I don't think it's a dealbreaker. MIKE engledogg
they look near identicle as other have pointed out. If you want to spend the extra I would say its worth going for the JRX toy as the windows to add a great deal of detail that's not to say Rail Racer is the lesser toy it makes up for it in other ways. Rapid run has gold parts rather then yellow and they are all marked as autobots ok thats not a big change but for some they might like that more
