Yeah, agreed. Although this idea looks interesting, I don't like it. First of all, yes, even one TF can reverse the course, of war very easily. Secondly, from ROTF we have seen that Autobots try to avoid military intervention into humans war and conflicts. And the third - if it's true, Bumblebee KILLED A LOT OF HUMANS! Yeah, Nazis, but most of them weren't villains, they were just soldiers. I personally like to see Autobots as defenders of peace.

Besides both being green (different shades at that), I see no similarities.

They're both green dump truck Constructicons with red eyes who form part of Devastator. That's a hell of a lot more physical similarities than most movie characters.

You were talking about the design, so only the red eyes and green dump truck count towards its accuracy here. Movie Optimus has a lot more physical similarities to G1 Optimus than this guy does to his G1 version.

My point is that most people who know who Long Haul was in G1 could actually recognize who it is. I highly doubt anyone would recognize half of the movie chacacters without being told who they are already.

It's a real shame that these WWII designs have kibble for awesome armored vehicle altmodes but instead transform into staff cars simply for the demands of the scene in the film.

Hot Rod's transformation from a Sherman into a athletic, heroic robot is an awesome concept.

He's accent was specifically named and none of the other have been mentioned. It probably doesn't matter but I was curious about it given I've taken several linguistics glasses.

Why slap the characters name on something that looks nothing like him? If you are using a character's name, you should stay true to the namesake. If Bay wanted something "new", then give them new names, just don't take names and slap them on a character all willy nilly.

..... Have you seen any of the movies? That's pretty much what 75% of the movies are.

I think it's fine for characters to look totally different from their previous incarnation so long as their character itself is faithful to the namesake - or at least interesting on their own.

Unfortunately, Hot Rod accomplishes neither of these, and probably could have been left out of the movie with little effect, so unless they have something interesting planned for him, (which I highly doubt) he's pretty much just there to promote a car.

So I disagree with you, but I'm not exactly a fan of how Hot Rod was handled here either.

So what the heck he transforms into? Because in the movie he was a simple open top car.

Slow down there, 45. If that's the case, then why exactly are you a fan of a franchise that has been using the name 'Optimus Prime' for over 30 years? Because god-knows how many Optimus Primes there are, and they have been different characters.
Or, I dunno, maybe you aren't. I don't wanna make any sad, pathetic assumptions about you being a Transformers fan on a Transformers forum.

B/c MOST Optimus Primes represent him in both appearance and in personality. The list you provided was a bunch of random bots with names slapped on them that really had little to no relation to their namesakes. I'm not saying you can't change some things up, but there are DEFINING elements that make a character. Hot Rod for instance has his spoiler, color scheme, and chest "flames". Optimus is his front windows/grill, antennas on his head, blue and red colors, and face plate IMO. As long as they are incorporating some of those elements, they have a good shot at making an Optimus Prime that works as Optimus Prime.

Honestly, you're just butthurt that you got put in your place in a conversation where you are trying to take things way out of context.
