Could've sworn they said this was a prequel

 

I would like to believe that maybe he is just visiting the place that contains the vehicles they used in the Bayverse. Maybe he is just teasing us with whats to come from his animated prequel. I do hope they go ahead and adapt some of the IDW stuff for their film to give Megatron a sympathetic origin and show why he started the war and what Cybertron was like before the war.

Do we know if this is officially its own universe? Or is this, God forbid, exploring what started the war within the Bayverse?

 

I really hope this is going to be it's own continuity. All the hem-hawing about with Bumblebee/ROTB and it's connection to the Bayverse with no definitive answer is ridiculous. Just to have a new movie that doesn't have to be saddled with any of that crap for once would be a good start.

Also for the love of God, don't make Bumblebee mute again.

 

We don't really have much official information. Hollywood Reporter says, "The project is acting as a prequel of sorts to the live-action Transformers movies, and will explore the origin of the heroic Megatron and the seeds of conflict between the harmony-seeking Autobots and domination-loving Decepticons."

My guess it's probably a standalone prequel that could tie into either the Bayverse and/or Bumblebee movie if you squint hard enough. Well, moreso the Bumblebee movie. There's no way they're going to use Bayverse style protoforms if they want it to be watchable.

 

The movie will win some big points with me, if it gives us a Studio Series figure of Megatron as he would have looked before they removed him from the Bumblebee movie.

 

Yeah, I'm hoping for designs that are reminiscent of G1 but have a unique twist to them, like what the war for cybertron games did.

 

I get the feeling it’s gonna be it’s own thing. But also that if possible it can fit in with Bumblebee.

Probably won’t be 100% like that. If SS finally does concept art stuff hopefully we can get it.

Yeah basically I am fully expecting G1 designs but with a unique and alien twist. Basically War For and Fall Of Cybertron like designs. Or in a similar style to some of the IDW Cybertronian designs.

It's wholesome to see them all so excited and seemingly passionate behind this project. Also interesting they had a screening. Although it seems it was just Paramount staff, I still wonder if details may leak.

 

It is wholesome, also just gotta be cool to go around and see stuff from films or TFs there (I would freak out probably if I got to take a photo with an actual Peterbilt Prime truck film prop).

Maybe I hope not since it's a year or so away from release and would especially suck for them, who have been working hard on this movie for a while I presume.

But it does mean that the animation is to a point where it can be shown to the studio (and that the voice recording is done probably), still is likely rough but it shows it's coming along well.

 

Yeah, considering how long animation takes, it isn't surprising they're far along enough to show the movie already.

 

Lorenzo's name isn't attached to this yet.

There's hope.

 

Wait, what? Really? How? I thought he handled all things Transformers that Paramount develops.

 

He's not mentioned on the IMDB page. And looking at Lorenzo's portfolio, he hasn't ever worked on an animated film. Looks like we may be safe...Thank god.

When this film comes out or is close to coming out, I hope to God people shut up and not bring up Lorenzo or Bay for both the film or something they don't like.

I don't love them either just I'm tired of hearing their names every 5 seconds.

I gotta assume it hasn't come out due to Hasbro wanting them to hold onto that design and not reveal it yet.

 

It's most likely going to connect to the Bumblebee universe since that is the direction they are going for with these movies. It wouldn't make sense to try and connect this prequel movie to the Bayverse since the Bayverse is dead and gone and would be pretty pointless to try and explore the origin of the war. Also, the origin of the war in the Bayverse is explained in the comics though it constantly contradicts each other, the origin of the war is explained there. So it makes sense for this prequel movie to connect to the Bumblebee universe.
