I too hate giving people a chance, they should just hire the same people over and over again forever and ever. Why has no one ever thought of this before??

I mean Music choice and style does matter for a movie. For example imagine instead of the autobots arrival theme playing in the 1st film, we heard a rap song or all star as the autobots crash land.

Not surprising people would care who does the Soundtrack.

I agree with many of your points, except for the blatantly wrong point about trusting this director with the movie because “we all liked the trailer”. For the sake of this, let’s pretend every single fan adored this trailer. Even then, that is the most absolute false sense of defense and security I’ve ever heard for any movie. The trailer is almost no indication of how the movie will actually turn out. Jurassic World Dominion had one of the greatest trailers I’ve seen this year. And the movie was so bad my jaw was on the floor throughout half the movie lol. Batman v Superman still holds what I consider the greatest teaser of all time, and that movie was mediocre at best. The list goes on, but what I’m saying is no, not a single person needs to suddenly trust the director because a trailer looks cool, or even because some of his very few past projects were decent in certain aspects.

Aside from that, while this isn’t directed to this comments specifically, I’ve seen several comments mentioning the whole “epic for the sake of epic isn’t good” argument. That has to be one of the silliest things I’ve heard on this forum lol, because it ISN'T “epic for the sake of epic”. It’s quite literally…epic for the sake of…TRANSFORMERS. Transformers are, in every definition, epic. We’re not asking for a wonderful, heart-swelling, emotionally thundering soundtrack for Sesame Street: The Movie here. We’re asking for it on behalf of an objectively epic franchise that 1000% deserves it.

Exactly this. I’ve seen one too many people in these comments twisting and warping genuine concerns from fans into naming them “racist” or some form of bigoted. It’s exhausting and I’m sick of the manipulation.

Either way, I just got done relistening to the 2007 TF movie soundtrack, and any doubt I had about wishing Steve back for the score has vanished into thin air lol. My gosh, what a legendary masterpiece that whole composition is. I adore it more everyday, ages like fine wine.

Why is it assumed that a white director hiring a white composer is all fine and dandy, but a black director hiring a black composer is suspect?

Some people literally said racist crap and said the guy only got the job because he's black and trying to twist it as some nefarious thing to exclude a white person.

You're twisting the situation to make yourself and people who are having reservations as being shat on and you're opinions are being trampled upon and conflating 2 different things. Don't just don't

You wanna pretend like this isn't racist?

That's just a couple posts, too.

Saying "Not being racist" and then saying racist shit doesn't actually stop you from being racist, fyi.

Composers aren't hired until the Final Cut or near is ready. The scores accompany moments in the movie. If composed before, when the final cut is done, it'll cut the music too. With re-shoots, it's normal for a movie to be scored during last few months of the post production.

Unless you are JJ Abrams and you make John Williams score the film without seeing it. o_O

To be fair, there are many times where composers are brought in early--well before the movie is edited or even before production is done--so they can get an idea of the story and create full themes. They can then arrange and apply those themes with the rest of their score when they fully write everything in the final months when the final cut is complete. So it's not uncommon to know who the composer is going to be early on.

The plot won't be any better than this dudes music. I would only want to see it for the special effects. Hopefully it will be better than that.

Detective mode on. Scientifically, what are the odds that every important position in the film is hired with a 13% chance of getting the job and gets it? I sense a pattern in the hiring process that might suggest not hiring people based on the best talent available. What does the Constitution or Bill of Rights say about that?

Anyone who is disappointed based on Jongnic’s experience with blockbusters or a preference for another composer has a valid argument. We can only hope that this is his big debut moment like TF07 was for Jablonsky.

Anyone who is disappointed based on the color of Jongnic’s skin is simply racist.

You obviously didn’t listen to his work. He incorporates Hip-Hop elements into his scores which would make the soundtrack more upbeat which will help with the 90’s setting of the movie. And also you would know most of his work isn’t just Rap instrumentals.
