Johnny Depp in Talks to Join "The Secret Life of Harry Houdini" For those of you unfamiliar with the biography this is based on, I honestly can't recommend the book highly enough. Houdini is one of the more fascinating figures of the 20th century, and this book was the first to put forward some pretty compelling evidence that Houdini worked for both American and British intelligence agencies, and also touches on his battles with the spiritualism movement, and his friendship and later feud with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It's an amazing book, and I'm glad to see they're going to adapt it. There are some versions of this story that say they're taking it in a more fictional direction, which I hope isn't the case. The book is good enough to stand on its own merits without needing to turn Houdini into an early century James Bond.
