Maybe pulling double duty as writer and editor was just too much, and he's just pulling back to focus on what he wants to do the most.

Denton Tipton's taking over as senior editor? Denton "This wouldn't even be an issue if it weren't for the fascination with 'canon.'" Tipton? Ok.

As long as the creative teams are as happy under the new people as they appear to have been under John Barber and John Barber's happier focusing on writing only, maybe it's for the best.

That's probably really good for Barber. He's a good editor and a good writer, but doing both at the same time seems to be too much of a struggle for him. Glad to see he's focusing in on writing, if that's what he enjoys more.

As for having Tipton back, well, I certainly hope he's learned his lesson.

:(  sad news but if it was his decision then you can't really fault him for it. At least he'll have more time to focus on writing, we haven't lost him completely.

I've not heard of this Denton Tipton chap but it will be interesting to see how this effects future issues of IDW Transformers.

I share your sentiment on Barber, but maybe lets wait until we see how Tipton does this time around.

It's been awhile since All Hail Megatron, perhaps he's learned from past mistakes?

I thought it said he was leaving completely and he wouldn't be writing exRID at first.

So he's just stepping down as editor? Staying on with exRID and working on a new upcoming project too?

I hope Tipton doesn't mess up continuity big time again because Barber really does know how to manage continuity very well.

I'm going to take an optimistic stance on this, since IDW seems to be much better at letting the writers write and the editors edit than the Big Two, and given that Roberts, Barber, and Scott work pretty closely together (or at least keep the communication lines open), there won't be nearly as many continuity snarls for the editors to clean up (unlike trying to bridge the Furman and McCarthy stories).

And who knows, maybe Tipton's been able to get a better perspective on how things should work.

As for Barber moving on to just writing, glad to hear it. ex-RID has been suffering a bit in the story department, so hopefully this will help alleviate some of those problems.

Hopefully John Barber hanging around to write will prevent that. I'm not familiar with Sarah Gaydos, but hopefully she can be a buffer for the TF side of things from any Denton Tipton business as well, IF he ends up anything like his previous tenure.

Apparently IDW believes in continually rewarding failure.
