About a month ago, Jim Cummings (Afterburner, Rippersnaper, Sharkticon) was with Craig Ferguson on his late late show on CBS. Promoting for the Winnie the Pooh Movie, he made his first ever Live action interview. Big wow huh? Owl interviewing Pooh. Craig Ferguson 7/14/11E Late Late Show Jim Cummings - YouTube
Wow! So that's what he looks like now. I'm a big fan of Jim Cummings. He's always a really good voice actor. I remember I first heard his voice on Aladdin and I had no idea who was voicing the big fat guy with the sword up until I watched Bioncle 4. XD Yay for Jim Cummings!
I thought it was awesome and all... But he lied through his ass on the "Be Prepared" part: He didn't sing the whole song, NOT EVEN HALF of the whole song, he sang the final verses [from "Be prepared for the coup of the century!" to the last "BE PREPAREEEEED"], approximadetly forty seconds [of a three minutes song, yes, it's one third of the song, but not even close to THE WHOLE SONG].
Yep. The story of Aladdin is about a sorcerer from Maghreb (IE Muslim North Africa, including Morocco) journeying to a city in China (Xinjang probably, considering the Muslim culture of the Chinese city) to find a magic lamp. Disney's version made it more generic Arab. And changed the princess's name from Badroulbadour to Jasmine. They also totally flipped the Genie's personality, from Gregory House to Robin Williams.
Disney changed for BETTER. Like they did with most of the stories they adapted [Little Mermaid, The Frog Prince, Beauty and the Beast, and arguably Hunchback of Notre-Dame].
well, it was more set in what a storyteller from the 18th century THOUGHT China was like. Or possibly before, as the story likely has some roots in folklore before being recorded in 1001 nights, much like the works of the brothers Grimm.
Jim Cummings is awesome. The voice he has for Scar is equally as amazing as Jeremy Irons. If Jeremy Irons can't voice Scourge. Jim Cummings then.
