This is something I have been working on for a while off and on since I got my airbrush, and is my first project that I have completed with my nice airbrush. I had a Jetfire laying around and had always thought it would be cool to do him up in the VF-1S paint scheme. To my knowledge, I don't think it has been done before. I keep doing these "Elseworlds" style transformers and so far they have been fun. The others you may have seen are Evil Jetfire and Powerglide repaint as a Cobra Rattler. The decals come from two different VF-1S models, one as just the jet and the other was in the battroid mode. I couldn't keep the exact same paint scheme, but I'm pleased with the way the colors came out. I tried some different techniques on this figure and having the airbrush is a godsend. If you have the opportunity, I would put off buying transformers or maybe sell some to get a nice airbrush, you will wonder how you lived without it. I gave him some wear and tear where you would expect paint to rub off, but tried not to overdo it. You'll also notice in the pictures that he has two canopies. I wanted to have the jolly roger on the chest, but also have a clear canopy for jet mode. Instead of buying anothe Jetfire/Treadbolt, I decided to mold the canopy and then case it in plastic. I had some silicone that needed to be used as it was getting old. It took a few tries to get it to come out right because I didn't have proper air vents, but I eventually got one that I could use. The canopied are interchangeable depending on how you want the figure to look. All in all, I'm happy. Give me another six months and I'll post another custom, lol.
that my friend is awesome! i loved your work on the cobra rattler and this one is just as top notch! you know what you should tackle next? i keep seeing the resemblanc e and i wonder if anyone else does but ROTF Sideswipe as the 00 Gundam. take six months and create my dream! lol awesome work bud
This turned out GREAT, man! I never imagined it looking this slick (it actually looks better wish what you've done than it does as Jetfire). The panel lines bring out tons of detail in this and the paintjob looks perfect.
Fantastic work man....I love seeing Jetfire painted up like this. I do believe that Sabsabby did one, but hers was slightly different.... Still, I love it man, you made this Macross fan smile
Sweet! Great paint work. Is that pre or post shading? Great panel lines too! Me likey! A more traditional Macross head (Read=G1 Jetfire) would make this pretty much perfect! See ya in 6 months!LOL!
Blast! You beat me to it! Oh well awesome job. The detailing is really incredible. I just started working on my version. At least now I have someone elses to look at for inspiration.
I am sorry man, but you fail. How could you do this, and not give us a picture of him in this pose???? In all seriousness, I've been waiting for years to see someone do this, I figured we'd see a LOT of them, but this is the first one I've ever seen. I love it, top-notch paint job and love the decals too. (I really do wanna see a gerwalk shot though )
Agreed with the Gerwalk, I was going to bring that up as well. Glad to see you made a thread for this after all. Now that you've done that, you've submitted a gallery, right? LOL
