    lame to defend a friend?

nobody should be mocked for their beliefs, no matter how ridiculous you may think they are.

Not really sure how the video particularly mocks Tom Cruise's personal and private beliefs.

It definitely makes fun of a wacko and embarassingly manic interview, though. :D

O'Connell didn't invade Cruise's personal life. He was "invading" an interview Cruise gave speaking of his fanatical "religious" beliefs. Seeing that video of Cruise, and how he spoke of "outside" people is what I found sickening more then the parody.

I laughed my ass off at the parody, which is all it is. Does this mean that all parodies are inappropriate? No. What about making fun of someone's beliefs? Well, that is always a question you have to ask of yourself before you do so, even if the other person's beliefs are "questionable."

That and the Mission Impossible-esque (slightly off) in the background helps to nail it.

TC has made this public video about a very public lifestyle that he publicly talks about all the frickin time. Sandler was made famous by a tv program that did the same thing all the time. O'Connell never said anything bout crusie personally, just about how insane the clip was.

Of all the parodies done on Tom Cruise's infamous Scientology interview this is by far the funniest. Kudos to Jerry who's got a lot of guts to mock Tom Cruise whom I believe is pretty darn powerful within the hollywood circle.

Kudos to Jerry! The thing that makes this even funnier is that he was in Jerry Maguire with Looney Tunes Cruise.

Why shouldn't people be mocked for their beliefs?

If someone believes something ignorant or dangerous (not talking specifically about Scientology, just about anything at all), and persists in that belief despite its detrimental qualities, then they absolutely should be mocked.

Ideally, it will encourage them to reevaluate their beliefs. Realistically, that's not going to happen, but maybe it'll discourage others from adopting the belief.

It's my interpretation of the Golden Rule--I wanted to be treated like I deserve. So I treat others the way they deserve. And sometimes that means treating people like idiots.

I'm a firm believer that shoving will protect you. Do you have stairs in your house? Please go stand by your stairs.

The laugh in that video was so maniacally perfect. Scarily so.
