So, what's the likelihood of us getting Jet Vehicon (regular or General) and the Takara Rumble? There's preorders on BBTS but I don't want to spend $30 and find out later that I could have bought them for half that locally. But at the same time, I love the General Vehicon that was in the last episode and I want the Rumble to go with my Frenzy... And stupid question that's probably been asked a million times, but has anyone heard any updates about Breakdown?
I would probably make all of them except breakdown (he's 0%) 5% chance of coming here. Remember, Beast hunters is coming and Rumble and kup were supposed to be the last figures before that first wave.
This. If you want to get them, you are going have to do it online. They are not going to end up in a Hasbro package.
Yeah. Hasbro and Takara talk before they make toys. There's reasons why we're not seeing certain figures yet and that answer may very well be we're not. As much as a bummer it really is, it would seem 'exclusive' is now a dead horse.
Pretty much what everyone else said. If we haven't gotten them yet they aren't coming. I don't know why they have been doing this, but as of late they seem to be skipping out on a lot of repaints that just seem natural. So right there Frenzy gets the boot. Doubt we'd get the jet vehicon either for some inane reason.
I can see Kup and Rumble being repainted as filler items for beast hunters. As for the other two, the Takara only stamps on the toys and Hasbro's own statements give Jet Vehicon and Voyager Breakdown a very slim chance of seeing a US retail release. The other question is whether these figures would be precluded from the molds FP can use for club exclusives or Botcon sets? In all honesty that's probably the only chance these figures have of being released in the US.
Hasbro would have to make an all new mold for breakdown that passes safety standards, and takara did many of those toys without consulting hasbro apparently. Breakdown specificly, but I think Unicron and Jet vehicon are also in that field. But breakdown is getting that cyberverse Apex Armor mechsuit in beast hunters. So I think there is slightly higher probably of a all new mold Voyager class Green breakdown. a Cylas Breakdown experiment rampageing on knockout's Synth En.
If the asian exclusives are a hit for toys r us, I could see them importing this line as well down the road.
Normally I would say there was a very slim-to-none chance of those molds making it over, but with the exception of Breakdown (since he apparently would fail conventional American safety tests for toys and Hasbro claims it would cost too much to fix for Western market release) we might see Jet Vehicon and Takara Rumble. I mean we DID get the Gentei! Gentei! retools of Thrust and Dirge released in Generations.
Yeah, Jet Vehicons's pretty much 0%. There's no way that pointy thing passes US safety standards. So many hard points. Rumble's... tough. Hasbro's been really weird with repaints lately. I mean, so many Generations and DotM figures had pretooled new heads that didn't come out for years (if at all, and often as exclusives to boot). I'd also feel a lot better about a red version of Rumble coming out stateside if the figure were more of a G1 reference. If Demolition Rumble had come out, and Scouts still existed, I would've expected an eventual repaint, since it's clearly one-half of a pair. US Rumble, however, is barely a reference to G1 Rumble (he has piledrivers and has a similar alt-mode to Rumble's most obscure alt-mode. Arguably the back kibble looks like Rumble's thruster guns but... that's a stretch). Given the rising price of Deluxes here (17.49 where I am at both TRU and Target), I'm comfortable just importing JVG and maybe Red Rumble. The US version of Red Rumble won't be any better, and I really dig its minicon. Damn shame about the lack of piledrivers, I must admit... but the figure is still so far removed from "Rumble" I don't mind that much.
They'll probably heavily round off those points. Not like they haven't done that before. The chest design actually is designed to invoke the old double spool chests on the original G1 cassette bots, and the back kibble has guns sculpted into them that don't seem to serve any purpose of existing other than being an homage to the originals on the G1 figures. Coupled with the pile drivers, it's actually a fairly decent homage overall to the original design but with a more workable alt. mode. But I'm also pretty sure that we're going to get actual cassette bots for FoC Soundwave (packaged like the originals, no less!), so your desire for G1 Rumbleness shall be met.
I'm just sayin'... they're pretty disparate. Between the colors (Prime Rumble isn't colored like G1 Rumble... pretty much at all), head, and alt-mode, I don't think Hasbro is going to be thinking of them as a pair as they have in the past. Not saying it's going to happen, but I just don't expect any more than I do literally any other repaint. And JV is... pretty much all points and thin plastic. Pretty much everything new is bad for safety standards, with the pointed wings, pointed tailfins, and the fact that the horizontal tailfins (and the little... nubs... on the front) look like they could snap off and be a choking hazard. Retooling is probably why they would think of the Jet Vehicon as more expensive than the regular Vehicon, it's not like it has significantly more moving parts or material.
