I half wonder if he was cast in either WfC or the new TV show, and the people doing the write up, when he said Transformers, assumed the new movie.
And I am now crossing my fingers in support of that notion. The Decepticons had a full-on gestalt in ROTF, it seems only the fair that the Autobots develop a matching warrior. Now that's a fair point...
Honestly, if Peter Cullen (God forbid) ever quit Transformers, I always thought James Avery would be a good replacement. Or any TF for that matter. I have no idea who he's voicing. Not spoiling it for myself this time.

I say keep Chalk with Primal. If they ever had Leo Prime in a new cartoon, then I think Avery would be excellent for the part. Imagine, Optimus Primal and Leo Prime fighting together against the evil forces of Megatron.
Uncle Phil has the gruff and bravado in his voice and could've easily been one of the Original Primes on ROTF. His voice fits a more brute and tough Autobot like Brawn or even Omega Supreme (though he'd have to play Omega a little slow minded). On top of Shredder, he also played the muscle War Machine in the 90s animated Iron Man.
Silverbolt doesn't necessarily mean Aerialbots/Superion. I think, given the (epic) choice of Voice Actor, he could very well be a Seeker ala Jetfire.
Yo holmes, to Cybertron! Avery is a terrific VA (Shredder FTW!) but I'll believe it when I see/hear it Yeah, then we'd have Uncle Phil throwing out Eddie Winslow from Family Matters. Someone get Reginald VelJohnson on the phone!
