Sad news for sure. Part of an amazing crew who gave life to so many beloved characters. For all of the (sometimes justified) grizzles about the original show, I’ve always admired the VA work.
Rest well, Mr. Angel aka Astrotrain, Ramjet, Smokescreen, Omega Supreme, Breakdown (Key To Vector Sigma), Ultra Magnus (post movie) Cyclonus (Return of OPTIMUS PRIME, Rebirth, after Roger C. Carmel's passing) and Arcana. G.I. Joe: Wet-Suit.
Was watching "The Master Builders" earlier today on Pulse Youtube channel before I read this news and when Smokescreen said "just call me the Autobot who isn't there!" (around 18:27) I got a weird feeling in my spine. Something about the delivery of the line and the amount of personality that seeped through with that one piece of dialogue stuck with me... and then i pulled up this site about a half hour later to read the (at that point unconfirmed) news, but something was telling me it was sadly true. Thanks for the memories, Mr. Angel!
RIP. As a kid, I mostly knew (and loved) his voice as this guy: Then when I got a little older and started poking into the episodes of Transformers that I missed, it was like "oh, cool, it's Zarkon!" He did really great work and brought some awesome characters to life. Grateful for his contribution to the medium!
He seemed like a real sweetheart! I\'m sorry he\'s passed but happy he lived. Another awesome person behind my childhood I\'ll never be able to tell THankyou!
First post I was mourning him, second post was a hallelujah thinking he was still alive, third post back to mourning now the news is confirmed legit. Wow, weird switcheroo. Amazing talent, amazing guy, and this time: may Angel TRULY rest with the angels in peace.
He lived till he was 90, He served in Korea, and voiced a lot of great iconic characters and was a part of several classic film productions. it was a life well spent i'd say. Farewell Jack Angel. Astrotrain will always be my favourite of the roles you've played.
The voices (and voice direction) of the G1 characters were some of the best aspects of the original cartoon and he voiced plenty of memorable characters, Rest in peace.
