Thanks for the info! I don't really care for BB soundwave but hopefully he turns out nice. What are they even gonna do for his alt mode? I'm very much looking forward to their knight prime though to go with this megatron!

anyone know if this is starting to pop up on ebay yet? Ive only seen it once, but it was 70 dollars, so wondering if it will appear at a cheaper price. ANd curious to see if their soundwave will transform, and if so, into what?

Nice! I'm really surprised and impressed that the cannon/cockpit and shield/nosecone DON'T partsform. I assumed you'd just need to take off the cockpit and nosecone for the transformation, since they turn into weapons; very cool that they're fully integrated.

Nice review! I am pleasantly surprised by his articulation and detail. And I love that all the accessories have storage! A few things: The cannon is from the end of the movie when Megatron and his army are defending "cybertron". It's the one that sqweeks blows up. The accessory is the staff, not the "club" although in chibi form it does look like a club hehe.

The smell/dirty fingers thing is disturbing. Guess I need to get some gloves!

The verified information learnt directly from the webcast is as follows:
1) Their next chibi product will be ice cream truck twins, not soundwave. Sorry for the false information several days ago. There was not even a plan for soundwave.
At first Black Apple planned to make similar transforming design for the twins, but later he realized it was impossible. Now each of the twins is already almost as complicated as chibi megatron, and the one transforming into 2nd half of the truck is especially difficult!
2) Chibi knight optimus prime is much more difficult to design than megatron. Due to the alien alt mode, designer could use some impressionistic style for megatron, mainly paying attention to the top side, but that's not the case for prime. With an existing truck, everything has to be very close to reality, and everyone is so familiar with prime's face, leaving almost no room for free play. It's really a challenge for his team.
3) It's possible to release ironhide to market in summer. It's a pretty complicated design with 300+ parts. Normally for a L class toy we only have 100+ parts. By the way, the Weijiang prime modified by Black Apple based on MPM04 has 500+ parts. BA's against partforming and would rather spend 200% or 300% time to find a better way.
4) He is not very interested in G1 or BW design, so he will keep focusing on the movies.
5) The reason to go for chibi transformers, is that Black Apple doesn't like a very crowded market. Although chibi style hasn't been accepted by lots of people, he's been trying to turn the tide with innovative and fun engineering.

 

Aw phooey! No soundwave is a shame, although makes sense due to nonexistent alt mode.   still, the chibi line will be great to see innovate

I guess so. Weijiang is a big company so they probably could make the cost lower than other 3P factories. Black Apple has no say in the price, it's mainly up to Weijiang.
But I wouldn't say it's a KO, it's more like IP theft I could happily accept, because MPM06 failed us miserably. 90% of the parts were redesigned by BA.
BA also said in the webcast that he wishes official products won't fail us anymore. He prefers to start a design from scratch, and he won't do modifications in the future.
The ability of his studio is limited to 2-3 products per year.
