Sorry about the bluntness of the title But, I purchased a NECA TF2 engineer and his leg fell off! I attempted to boil and pop a few times but to now avail, attached are pictures of the joint Please help me, somebody
Does the leg slip off because it is loose or does it pop off because it doesn't go on all the way to begin with and never "clicks" in place? If slipping off, you probably need to bulk up the connection. Try adding super glue to either the outside of the peg or the rim of the socket to help them not slip past each other. Multiple coats will add bulk faster than you may think. Always allow the glue to dry completely before putting the joint back together. If popping off, you might need to re-shape either the peg or the socket to make a better fit. Basically it's the opposite of above and you would remove material to get the right fit. A picture of the other side of the joint might be helpful. And just FYI, this probably should have gone on the creative-general-discussion board rather than radicons-customs.
Okay So, it was on tight out of package, then fell off, I cannot get it to reattach at all because the peg refuses to slip into it's hole, because the hole isn't big enough for the peg to get in to, both boiling and hair drying did nothing to alleviate this problem. Other side, for reference
That sounds like it might not have been seated completely from the manufacturer. I'd start by checking the hole in the first picture for any blobs or bumps that shouldn't be there and clearing them out. Same thing for the mushroom peg and stem in the second picture. If that doesn't do it I'd slowly sand/shave the sides of the peg a little at a time so that there's less stretching needed for the heat & pop. Don't take it down too much though or you'll risk having the leg fall off due to looseness. Another possibility is that the end of the peg is too tall and is hitting the bottom of the hole before everything pops in place. Again, sand slowly. That's hard to tell from photos though, more a thing you might feel when pushing the parts together.
It's really hard to tell, I've been sanding and popping, but it's not working so far. Hopefully TRU accepts NECA returns.
This. I've had issues with nearly every NECA TF2 figure I bought. And while the first two waves looked good despite that, the Engi and Spy looked terrible when I saw them at TRU the other day. Redeem the Genuine hat code on the portrait card, return it, and buy something better.
