    Weapon-arms.

I liked it at first but I much prefer hand-held weapons. Funny how Optimus's last arm-weapon got eaten too. In the film I realized that every character was holding their weapon (besides Galvatron). Even Bumblebee and Stinger's arms didn't transform, their weapons were mounted.

Crosshairs? hand-held SMGs. Drift? Hand-held swords. Hound? You get the idea.

Bee did have a harpoon thing in his arm, so there's still kind of a weapon that's built in, but that's about it. I'm with ya tho, and I do prefer the handheld as well. For me, it makes them seem less like they were built for war.

It doesn't matter to me if their weapons are hand held or built in though built in weapons would be the most practical.

i actually don't like them holding weapons..that would be like humans growing another hand just to hold it.

I hope not, I prefer weapons that transform out. (i.e., Lockdown)

It's all about face guns now.

I do prefer they transform their guns out from their arms.

A mix between hand-held and Transforming weapons work for me - as per the other series we've seen.

    - Shockwave has almost always had a gun arm
    - Optimus has almost always had some form of detachable weapon

I'm one of the few that like a mix. I like when TFs have the hand held guns and swords and so on, but I also liked the weapons like Bee's arm morphing gun, Screamers hand saw, Rathets hand saw. Optimus with his arm swords is one sword weapon I liked better than his hand held sword. While I like the ballistic type weapons, I still think TFs should have more laser and plasma weapons.

IMO, when a reboot is done, TFs should show up to Earth and normal ballistic weapons should not hurt them at all. The larger stuff like tank shells and bombs, ok that should hert them some what. But I always thought that having the TFs have a more advanced weapon set like plasma weapons would show that they were more advanced and the plasma weapons is what does the most damage to them.

And maybe at some point later in the second movie of the reboot, the humans would start to field some more advance (crude) plasma weapons that would help against the more advanced TFs.

The Cons need to come into play and feel thretening and unstoppable. This paper thin armor and can be killed so easy crap needs to go.

The downside to having all your weapons integrated is that you can't swap them out if you run out of amo or just need a different kind of weapon. And you can't disarm without, litterally, disarming.

I felt like DoTM started the trend towards de-integrating the weapons. Optimus stored his blades in his trailer, and Megatron is using a big hand held shotgun. I feel like this aestetic was the inspiration for Mechtech. (or maybe the other way around...)

Yeah, I was about to say, DOTM started to ease in the use of hand-held weaponed, as well as more humanoid faces (hello, Sentinel Prime), and more streamlined/smoother bodies with minimum vehicle kibble as well, like Dino. Just looking at Ratchet next to a newer design is just jarring. That scene with him and Lockdown perfectly illustrates the huge difference between the design philosophies of movies 1/2 and AoE. Ratchet's face is very alien compared to Lockdown.

Ironhide cannons were always mounted on his arms and he even detached them in ROTF to lose weight to outrun the bombing strike. Ratchet has always used 1 or 2 hand held guns. Optimus has always had hand held guns. Most of the con sodiers in ROTF had hand held rifles and other weapons. So the hand held gun aspect has always been there. Bee had his integrated arm cannon but it was a plasma cannon and he never ran out if ammo. He even charged it for bigger blasts. Ironhide's cannons were plasma based too if I remember correctly.

I like both but the transformable ones are nice, it went back to G1 anyways, since I am sure someone will say it's a new thing.

Lockdown didn't carry any weapons did he?

I know he had the grenade but it wasn't like hanging off a belt it came out of him somewhere I thought.

    Decepticon weaponry = Attached.

    Autobot weaponry = Separate.

A better dichotomy than "Guns/No guns".

I agree. Transformers should go back to using guns instead of arm canons

In what way are they more practical? Can't get into a position to aim down sights if your weapon is your forearm and you completely lose the use of your primary hand if not both that and technically speaking you'd be stuck with a single integrated weapon at a time instead of having a different weapon for different circumstances. Only advantage I see is storage but that's hardly a worthy trade off dude.

Also I really hate it when people prefer integrated weapons or plasma laser based weapons over normal ballistic because it's supposedly more "advanced" "futuristic" or "alien" it really isn't guys as I said there pretty much aren't any practical reasons to integrate weaponry and how much more effective is plasma anyways? You guys seriously think just cos a race is more advanced something as destructive as a tank round is seriously useless? We have guns yet I bet you I can kill you perfectly fine with a bow and arrow
