Every 6 months or so, I make a trip from MD to NJ for a trade event not related to TFs, but I like to use the time before or after the event to scope out locations I have never been to, or only visit when I am in the area. I know of a couple of locations along my route, as they are noticable from the highway, but if there was a location, say a couple of miles off the highway, I would be open to checking them out, but I usually pass them since I do not know they exist. My question is, is there an app for say IPhone (I have a 6) that would alert me when I get say within 10 miles of stores I program into it, like Target, Wal-Mart, TRU, Ross, etc
I'd probably just recommend going to the respective websites and planning out which stores are where along your route by way of their locators.
Not sure about plotting out specific stores, but the Road Trippers app might help with finding things along the way.
You can just type the name of a town and the bame of the store in and Google will tell you where it is and even offer directions.
I guess I was not specific as to what I am trying to do. I know I can search Google Maps, but I am not going to try and read a print out while driving or try to search my phone while driving. What I was hoping existed was an app that would sound off if I was, say 10 miles, from a location I preprogrammed, like a Wal-Mart or TRU; so I knew to be on the look out for it, instead of driving by unaware.
I haven't seen anything like that, but it would be useful. You could also add in thrift stores and bargain stores, you never know what you'll find
