I may just be very poorly skilled at searching TFWiki, but I can't seem to find a conclusive list of which characters, regardless of faction, made their first appearances, listed by season. Is that something that exists somewhere?

To clarify, I'm not looking for a breakdown of who all appeared in each episode. I'd just really like to see individual lists of who was new to the cast of characters, by season.

I'm confused, are you asking for what episode is the first appearance for each character, or just the overall list of new characters added in each season?

TFWiki does show who is in each episode, but obviously that gets repetitive, since many of the same characters appear in many episodes in each season. There doesn't seem to be a G1 list of who was new to each season.

I don’t think TF wiki has compiled a list in that fashion, And I really don’t know of any other site that has

I know if you look up the individual characters you usually see mentioned as to where the first appear

Yeah, there is that. It's definitely going to be a time consuming process to go that route, but that may be what I need to do. I was hoping that maybe someone had already done the work. ;)

Well by Season you can basically go by the toys with some exceptions.

S1: The 84 toys, + Shockwave, Devastator, Jet/Skyfire, and the Dinobots getting early advertising from the 85 lineup.

S2: The remaining 85 guys sans Roadbuster, Whirl, and the Deluxe Inecticons, the 86 combiners (Superion, Menasor, Bruticus, and Defensor) get early advertising in this season.

The Movie plus S3 account for the remaining 86 toys plus the 87 Combiners (Computron and Abomimus) get early advertising towards the tail end. Hubcap does not appear.

The Rebirth: the remaining 87 toys.

My bad. Generally it's the list of toyline characters for the year the season started in plus a few from the next year. Though not a hard and fast rule, generally when characters from the next year of the toyline show up, the episode is airing close to the next season's "year". For example, we consider season 1 to be 1984, but when 1985 toys like the Constructicons show up, the episode first aired in very late 1984.

I could probably do this off the top of my head, this will help you: The Transformers (toyline) - Transformers Wiki

Season 1 is the 1984 toy lineup, minus obvious exceptions like the Omnibots and Powerdashers. Additional characters are the 1985 Dinobots, Constructicons, Insecticons, Jetfire, Shockwave, and the 1986 mail-order Reflector.

Season 2 adds the 1985 lineup of toys (minus those I already said were added). Additional characters are the 1986 Protectobots, Combaticons, Stunticons, and Aerialbots. Plus no-toy characters like Alpha Trion (are you counting those?).

Season 3 adds the 1986 toy lineup, although technically the movie already added many of them, plus 1987's Technobots, Terrorcons, Throttlebots Goldbug.

Season 4 (Rebirth 3 parter) adds a lot of the 1987 toys, namely the Autobot and Decepticon Headmasters, Targetmasters, Sixshot, Punch, the Bot and Con Clones, the Horrorcons, the rest of the Throttlebots, the Headmaster Titans, and the Targetmaster partners for existing characters like Kup and Cyclonus.

Nothing 1988 or later from the toyline appears in the show.

Thanks, guys. I honestly hadn't even considered going by the toy releases.

    Actually I just found this

It’s not listed in seasonal order but the information as to which episode each character appeared and seems to be very accurate, I didn’t check every single one

Yes, in the Guidebooks each character's first appearance is listed in their bio.

It would be kind of fun to see a list of first cartoon appearances and how often they appeared subsequently in the series, although that's generally more of a comicbook thing. If someone had a lot of time on their hands, it would make for a nice reference on TFWiki.
