Hey folks... just wanted to get an opinion on this.

My fiancee and I moved into this basement suite in February. We really like it here, it's affordable, has it's own washer/dryer, internet is included, it looks out onto this really great pond (beavers, ducks, etc).

Shortly after we moved in, my fiancee switched jobs, and so she was staying up later than me, very regularly, as hers was later in the day, and my job is quite early. MANY times, she'd come running into the bedroom, absolutely terrified that someone was watching her. At first I brushed it off and thought she was being paranoid, because there is a trail that goes around the pond and the trail is only about 20 feet from our window on the other side of a chainlink fence, but we are slightly higher up than the trail. There are window coverings, but in the living room where the big sliding glass window is, the curtains are slightly sheer and you can see "shapes" through them. Anyways, this has gone on for quite awhile, this feeling of hers in the evening of being watched.

Last week I was in our bedroom reading and I kind've felt like I was not alone, at first I thought it was the cat, but when I called her, she didn't come (usually a sign that she's sleeping somewhere else or in the window in the den). I went back to my book, and oddly, out of the corner of my eye I saw a figure in the room, a girl with short dark straight hair and a purple coat. When I looked directly over at her, she was gone. I really didn't think a whole lot of it, just figured it was my imagination. I didn't even tell my fiancee about it.

Well, last night, my fiancee came running into the room. I had to get up with her and shut everything off and then we went back to bed. Before we went to sleep, I asked her an odd, but curious question, designed not to alarm her to my suspicion. I asked her, that if her feeling of being watched had a colour, what colour would it be? She replied "purple".

Now I've looked around the web a little bit and found quite a few stories of people saying that first see ghosts "out of the corner of their eye". (Note that this is today, well after the fact of my seeing the girl out of the corner of my eye). Quite a few also have the "feeling of someone in the room" as part of their tale. The only odd occurence we've noticed in our suite is that the fridge keeps getting turned to it's coldest setting, but I've long chalked that to the dial getting bumped as it is in the stupidest place I've ever seen in a fridge.

I don't want to cause my fiancee more stress by telling her we might have a ghost, as she'd be packing and ready to move ASAP. I'm personally not one to be superstitious (if that is the right word, I don't know) in situations like this, but it seems too odd and coincidental.

Maybe I should just play Ghostbusters 1 and 2 indefinitely and hope it gets the hint.

if you have a digital voice recorder, place it some where that it can recored for awhile, stop it and play it back. if you here nothing, try asking questions, and taking pictures. afterwards you should know for youself, just take care what you ask, there are things you dont want to provoke.

Are there any cold spots in your place? Like all of a sudden the temperature would drop a few degrees? Have you noticed anything out of place, like someone moved it? How often do you have these feelings of being watched?

If you ever want investigate it, I'd first research you place. Find out it's history and see if anyone has died there. If that ends up being true, and these feelings, and possible seeing figures still occur, you could try and leave a camcorder going overnight and see if it picks up anything move on its own or whatever.

I'm pretty positive there's no japanese woman living in my house. That did give me a much needed laugh though.

Several sights suggested taking pictures and I just did that, they say to look for anything unusual, specifically "orbs" or unexplained round circles in the pictures. In the dozen or so pictures I took, I saw only one. Of course, I thought I saw something move in the corner of one, so I'm thinking I'm just thinking way too much about this now.

For whomever asked about how often does my fiancee feel like she's being watched? It's often. At least once a week, most of the time, more than that. She actually went to a counsellor today to see about it (of course, she doesn't know about my ghost theory, and she made this appointment a few weeks ago). There's no noticeable cold spots... but like I said, we do live on a pond at the bottom of a valley, so there's quite often a breeze and we often leave our windows open when we're home, so it's hard to say. I have a camcorder I might leave on... but I don't want to draw attention to it and freak my fiancee out, I'll have to think about how to do that best.

No, you don't have a ghost. You also don't have a Terminator in your attic, a Predator in your basement or any other fictitious entity living in your house.

    Cocaine is hella drug.

    or

If you have ANY common sense, GTFO, NOW. Over the top, ridiculous horror movies prove that living with ghosts and not getting your ass out of there is a surefire way to ensure you will be dead within the next few months.

I can't add anything to this discussion that hasn't already been said.

If there is a ghost, though, try talking to it.

If your fiancee thinks she's going nuts and needs counseling, you really should get your theory out in the open with her - at the very least let her know you have seen things, too, and its not just in her head.

Its not going to end, not until you do something about it. Researching the history of the building you're living in is a start, and is the first thing any researchers would tell you to do. It doesn't sound like its a malevolent entity based on its shape and lack of malicious behavior - I'd go with the visual description in assuming its a young girl who's died there or in the area and is curious about you two, like kids are. Think of her as just a young girl and things will get less scary. Talk to her, convince her to go on to 'Heaven' or 'the Light'. And get your place blessed.
