I was recently reading through Stormbringer, and I couldn't help but notice how similar it was to Metroplex's starship mode. I know it' sheen stated before that the Xantium isn't a Transformer, but are the Titans classified as Transformers?
I don't think we've even seen or heard abotu Xantium since Stormbringer... I wouldn't mind if Roberts and Barber brought it back and elobare a bit more on him.
xantium was an anti functionist senator back in the day... (written by roberts), appeared in Issue#10 of the MTME, page 1, panel 6... i'm either wrong or i did see someone mention it.
It does get referenced in the LSOTW bio pages. Rung mentions how Ironfist is convinced the Xantium must have a robot mode.
Just because it has a robot mode doesn't make it officially a Transformer. It could very well be a body that the smaller Transformers become heads for. We have mention of Headmasters from the ancient past, and in that book that shall not be named, one of the bots that joins Galvatron's army becomes a giant head, not to mention that Tailgate mentions knowing a bot that turns into a giant head. (But in his defense, he might have been lying or exaggerating) Point is, it might have a robot mode, but not sentience of its own, requiring someone or something else to pilot it.
No, the fact that Titans are Transformers make them Transformers. They are sentient, self-aware, transforming robots from the planet Cybertron. I don't see how you can get anymore "Transformer."
I was talking about Xantium having a robot mode but not being considered a Transformer. Not the Titans. I agree about them being sentient and all of that. Xantium could have a robot mode, but not be an actual living entity. Sorry, was half asleep when I posted that.
Clipped from the wiki. We have a hint that it may have a robot mode. But it looking like metroplex is a coincidence "Wreckers fanboy Ironfist will rant to you at length why the Xantium totally has a robot mode." "Don Figueroa said that the Xantium design is based on "Stronghold", a character from his old Macromasters fanfic comic. He also said, though, that if it ever transforms into a robot it will look a lot different." I would love to say the 13 and the Titans are NOT even cybertronians. There totally different creatures. But even though that sounds cool to me. It does sound confusing, and writers like to avoid confusing people. So they'll keep it simple. Plus I can't imagine the Wreckers getting a titan. "Here is an wise and ancient relic of the past.....try to not get it all-blowed-up! K?"
