Although the two toys look nothing alike, they do have the same name in the same line. It could be possible that they are the same character and that the Scout Dead End gets reformatted into the Deluxe Dead End but equally possible I suppose that they are different individuals with the same name.
I agree its not like this guy is going to be in the movie they most likely just didn't know what name to use.
Actually, there's now a third dead-end. TRU exclusive 3" titanium 2-packs. Dead end here is a jazz re-color.
All three are just different takes on the same basic homage. I can't really see any of them making it to the screen. All three have the same name, but aren't really meant to be the same exact bot in the Movie Universe, or at least that's my take on it. They've got the name to use, so they might as well put it to good use. Wouldn't surprise me all that much if they used it in the Universe line when it comes back from it's hiatus.
Movie Jolt and ROTF Jolt, anyone? Although that defection theory was cute. EDIT: Didn't notice the TRU Tit thread until now. That's a lot of Dead End love.
That's a very good question. There's as many as four different movieverse Dead Ends. (Or four toys for the same character.) The ROTF Scout, ROTF Deluxe, ROTF 3" Titanium, and the first movie's Jolt toy that has been officially renamed Dead End. If they're different characters, then why have so many Decepticon cars all named Dead End?! What reason do they have for using the same name, when there are so many other options? If they're the same character, why is this nobody character getting multiple toys all with different altmodes and robot modes? Both options are bizarre. Something weird has happened here. And, of course, both could be partially true and the four toys may represent two or three different characters in any odd configuration.
Eh. I'll probably just make them the same individual in my mind rather than have a few different guys running about simultaneously with the same name.
The only 2 I can confirm are the original Scout class and the Deluxe class versions. Both appear to be the same fuel-siphoning Decepticon, as both mention this trait on their back-of-card profiles. As for Wal-Mart Jolt, that was a last-minute correction to make room for the prankster, electro-whipping Autobot. They could have just as easily called him Drag Strip, or Full Tilt. (or his intended name, Roadhugger.)
I deliberately bought the Scout toy with the Name Detour on the box to avoid the problem - but i think the name Dead End suited the scout (which is a slight pity) as he's got that Vampire look to him and that suits the name "Dead End". - Perhaps he should be called "Undead End". Anyway I call the scout Detour - "Problem solved".
tf cna haev haev the same Name but the scout and deluxe dead end are the same character according to his bio both are like vamparies that means they the same character, sry for my bad english
Now I can't understand this. Hasbro has made three Dead End figures, none of which are the same character or look the same, with only two of them having the same color scheme. And yet they bothered to make the two Bludgeon figures be the same character with ROTF voyager Bludgeon's BIO.
Well, the bios of both the scout and deluxe versions of Dead End are very, VERY similar. Both of them state clearly that Dead End is a creepy, energy vampire of sorts. To me, that's enough to declare that they're the same guy. Now, the Titanium on the other hand, I have no idea but I have no reason not to believe he isn't the same guy.
