I won't be able to afford one in March. Do you think he'll still be around to buy later without skyrocketing in price?
Eventually it will sell out, but due to its hefty price I'm sure they'll be around for a reasonable amount of time before they start to increase on the secondary market.
Depends by what constitutes "later" in this scenario. Checking BBTS, the later (cheaper) shipment that will arrive in April still has over 570 (577, checking a second ago) preorders still available. Unless people start jumping on remaining stock in rapid numbers around the time of release and/or BBTS doesn't cut some of their current order or something, I'm thinking Fort Max will be in stock for at least a little while. I'd keep paying attention to the available preorders at BBTS, TFSource, Robot Kingdom, etc. to make sure the stock at online retailers doesn't start suddenly disappearing the closer we get to its scheduled release date. As of right now though, I wouldn't worry too much about getting him as long as you don't wait all year.
Eventually it will sell out but i think not immediately due to the price. That said I'd not hesitate too long, as for my self I will have just under $200 saved up for for Fort max by the end of January.
I'm thinking that FM will sell out, it's a question of when. Reissues and new releases seem to typically sell out within 6-9 months after release. If it hasn't sold out by then, it often goes on clearance. FM will be interesting to watch because he has such a high price tag at 300+. However, there also appears to be a lot of demand for FM, since he is considered by many to be the holy grail of G1 collecting. My guess is that reissue FM probably lasts until the end of next year. Definitely best to buy him at "retail" rather than wait for after-market prices. That's a tough one man, his price just keeps on climbing. I bought mine at Botcon last year, I think I paid 150+ for him? Not sure. I took a look on ebay and saw some auctions listing him for over $200, ouch.
This is what I'd advise to anyone who wants one. If you're able to and you want one, make arrangements now. For a great many fans, being able to obtain this figure below $500 has been just short of a pipe dream.
I hope he does. Then I can triple my money. Seriously, this one you don't want to wait, period. A MISB Fort Max for under $500 will not happen for a LONG time again, unless they decide to do a Predaking... Will he sell out in the first few months? I'll say unlikely, roughly $400 including shipping is a lot of dough for a toy.
