I recently noticed the Protector armor is sold out at BBTS and Robot Kingdom and has less than 100 units left at TFSource and ToyArena. With three uses of this mold already in the bag, have we seen the last of the Protector armors?

It lasted a hella long time on BBTS though. And I'm pretty sure it's still on TFsource. No where near the demand of any of the City Commander armors.

 

Probably see a spike in it when all those Henkei Rodimus reissues come out again though. Or if they do it in blue to match TFCC's Sideburn

 

And when you say 3 uses of the mold you have to take into account that the Shadow Scythe was a very limited release. Nothing like the releases of Shadow and Powered Commander

 

Powered Commander also had a limited release deco for TFcon. Only 500 of those were made vs the 600 for Shadow Scythe.

Indeed. And I really wasn't referencing any value but simply making an observation that they are selling out and discussing the possibility that this mold has seen the last incarnation.

That's the boat I'm in. Don't get the feeling that many liked it nearly as much as City Commander, but for me it's a great piece. I'm glad I got him.  

 

Your are comparing Ultra Magnus to Rodimus Prime. . .

Plus the Hot Rod mold was still a bigger pain in the butt to get then the Magnus/Prime.

 

Right. PC was a TFCon exclusive and DIA was a Japanese exclusive. DIA eventually hit clearance on BBTS it didn't initally move that well.

 

^Neither did Shaddow Commander, and it was a limited release as well. All the sudden it sold out after months in stock, and the price just spiked in a hurry. Everyone seemed to want it once it finally sold out.

 

FansProject has this weird trend, it seems. They make an item that's highly sought after, yet it doesn't doesn't seem to be an instant success. Then after awhile of sitting there, they sell like wildfire. It's definitely a rollercoaster ride. But, when it's all said and done, they do sell out and people clamor for them like crazy in the end.

Such an odd system, really. It works for them though.

 

Neither Protector armors are as good as the City Commander armour, but the Shadow Scyther was a lot nicer than the Protector. City Commander is just a fantastic piece which still holds up real well.

 

City Commander is far better then Protector. I was really disappointed by Protector. I don't really see FP making another run in it's original colors.

 

city commander at least looked somewhat like ultra magnus. The bot form of Protector actually makes the rodimus bot look less like the character than he does without the armour. It's not a necessary upgrade by any means, and IMO doesn't look that great.

 

I would like to get one more set when Henkei HotRod gets released.

 

Better do it soon.

 

City commander actually stayed on BBTS for a while before sold out, much like any FP products, and then the price sky rocketed.
