I get the whole "exclusive" title I suppose but I literally picked all three of these up in the past year at cost. Not hard to come by at all. In fact I picked Stepper up at TFSource on discount just last week. Last one though.

 

Their Stepper was readily available everywhere and didn't really seem exclusive which is great for customers.
"Exclusive" or not the high retail price on their G2 Jazz was absolutely absurd. This is another example of Maketoys attempting to cash grab while actually shooting themselves in the foot.
Meanwhile all of XTB's G2 Stunticons members are all reasonably priced at the same point of their G1 versions.

Now FT has announced their G1 Jazz. If they do G2 repaint, I'm pretty sure the price won't be through the roof.

 

The Stepper was a TFSource exclusive and limited to 500. I'm assuming it wasnt as popular as they thought it would be.

The G2 figures are kind of a mixed bag. A niche market within a niche market but I can see what you mean. I have fears about some of FTs figures going forward. Their repaint practices are spotty at best. I just hope we can get their Jazz in that beautiful toy deco from one of their releases.

 

I guess not. I was able to get my Maketoys Bounceback from Baba. If I recall, it was cheaper priced than TFsource. Lots of other sellers, both American and Chinese were selling it.

I'm quite happy with my FT G2 dinos.

 

That's fair I'm sure other sellers may have purchased some through them but who knows.

I'm purchasing a few G2 figures here and there but mostly just the ones I owned when I was younger. I never has the odd colored G2 Dinobots just the silver versions that were initially released.

 

Yeah, I saw it as exclusive to a place that repeatedly loses credit card numbers. People remember when it happens a few times and it's handled the same haphazard way. To @ChromeMagnus's point, sure, the usual suspects like Taobao had a few that were sold out by the time I saw it. I went and bought Toyworld's Coolsville recolor instead. It looks great but it sure is a pain to get back into car mode.

I have blue Grimlock. I was a little disappointed they didn't finish the team but I can't say I would've picked the rest of them up at $200 a pop either.

I highly doubt Baba as well as other Chinese sellers got theirs from TFsource. It might have originally been planned as a TFSource exclusive but certainly did not actually end up that way. Reminds of MMC Sphinx that was supposedly a TCP exclusive but we all saw that sellers all over the world had it available.

Now that Maketoys is out of the game and isn't producing any more products, I'm seeing used copies of Downbeat showing up on Ebay from US sellers for $200+.
I guess Downbeat is now becoming a rare collector's item.

I'm sure it will eventually. Some people may not be aware of the FT version yet, or they don't care, or they just really like the MT version.

 

People probably know it’s gonna be a while for FT. They could probably get Downbeat, enjoy it for a while and still sell it before FT Jazz is here

That's friggin AMAZING because they're SO done it's a known fact. Almost looks like what Maketoys told us last fall is what happened- they simply quit selling/doing parts aftercare through their site.

I'm in the G1 MP camp. I don't see MT doing that anytime soon. And when they do, I find it overpriced.
