Some people utterly dissy Hasbro and say 3rd parties are the salvation of the Transformers band, whilke other refuse to buy 3rd party toys, as they are not "True Transformers".

Is it possible to be on the middle ground of the matter? To support both sides, or is this like the "console wars" with divided sides?

Why wouldn't it be possible? My collection consists of Hasbro, Funpub, Takara, and 3rd Party figures. In my opinion 3rd Party figures on their own aren't really worthwhile if you don't have Hasbro figures to fill out the rest of the collection. Likewise 3rd Party helps fill in gaps that Hasbro leaves.

And considering the number of addon kits for Hasbro figures that come from 3rd parties it wouldn't really be possible to pick a side if you had an addon kit. Can't have City Commander without a Voyager Optimus Prime mold.

I buy what I like, I don't care about the official vs 3rd party fan issues.

Of course you can. I used to. I just can't stand where Hasbro went in terms of cost vs quality. Hasbro stuff isn't worth it anymore and I'm not wasting money on that crap.

Yes. I don't see why not. Granted, some figures (both official and unofficial) end up disappointing me when I finally get them in hand but some DIY customization can often help with that (as the links in my sig will attest  ).

Of course it is. My loyalty is to the product on the table and not primarily the maker, although, if the maker has a proven track record then it naturally extends to them as well in a way.

I only collect US G1, MP and slavishly 3rd party MPs. As you can see I've got all my fingers in the Hasbro, Takara and third party pies.
