Does anyone else feel that Takara has been awfully quiet lately in regards to information on new products and releases? I know there are several factors that can be attributed to this. Like for example the fact that Galaxy Force ended in Japan and the fact that Takara-Tomy are probably still adjusting becoming a single entity. Regardless of that though AFAIK, the only new products that have been announced/released in 2006 so far have been the Galvatron re-issue, Beast Wars OP/Megs set and THS-02 Convoy. That's just a handful of items for this month and next month. What happened to product announcements that were three to six months from release? Or the remainder of the Galaxy Force figures. Or Primus? Or BT-Ginrai/BTA-Scourge? Or any other BT releases? Am I overreacting? I know Takara was gonna cut back/slow down with TF releases with GF gone but it just seems to me that other product has sort of gone into limbo here.
Primus comes in February, and it seems that BT-Ginrai/BTA Black Convoy have been uncancelled. I'd say it's just the Takara-Tomy thing. Plus not much else to release. I'd rather they give us break than start releasing a bunch of mindless repaints.
On the other hand, it seems like Ginrai/Black Convoy have never been officially announced to begin with.
If the news in this thread is true, we will be hearing a lot from them soon. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/thread90160.html Takara's Surprise Project? Transformers TFW2005
This is true, I don't recall seeing any public images for them only these rumored solicitations from online retailers that never provided pics anyways.
I mailed Fan to Fan several times in the past few weeks, and the answer was always the same: Takara never solicited them in the first place. Likewise, there's no preorder at HLJ yet. Considering these two toys are supposedly due out in two months from now, I don't see this happening.
The have opened "community circle" late last year, but even that doesn't get updated often from Takara stuff. The last entry was on the 6 of January and it was about Primus. No hot news. I thought it would be great as I expected to be able to ask questions directly, but that particular thread is read only
Yes. With Hasbro having no creative decisions finalized yet for post-Cybertron/pre-movie era, which will span about 6 months, it's hard for Takara to announce anything. Remember, if Hasbro wasn't using Takara for manufacturing/designing a lot of the figures, there's a good chance Takara wouldn't be making Transformers at all. Or do people not remember the FAILURE that Car Robots was in Japan? Takara lost some buckos on that one, and it was the Hasbro/Takara venture on Armada/Energon/Cybertron that pulled Takara out of serious financial trouble. BECAUSE OF THAT, Takara-Tomy will most likely NOT just jump in to making their own Transformers again for some time to come. The re-issues are fine, they actually make money on those and on deals with E-Hobby for exclusive repaints. The only reason that they have their "anniversary" for Beast Wars over there is because Hasbro is doing theirs and has recomissioned the molds. When and if Hasbro gets a greelight for this "Neo G1", expect the same thing out of Takara-Tomy.
I find that extremely unlikely, given Hasbro aren't releasing either of the toys Takara are for the 10th Anniversary, and there's little sign Takara are releasing any of the toys Hasbro have resurfaced. Phazer
