Hey guys

well seeing as the amazon listing for masterpiece optimus prime has been cancelled and will be put back up for a much higher price, i am wondering if i should get the THS-02 Hybrid convoy as a substitute for it. I don't want to pay much more then around £60 for it, and i have seen them on ebay for that price.

It seems to have the same features but is just smaller and cheaper to buy, what do you guys think. Is it worth buying or should i just get another figure?

The Hybrid Convoy is not bad, but it is no replacement for MP-10 IMHO. MP-10 is a spectacular toy. Hybrid Convoy is a small poseable collectible. Not really the same thing.

 

The truck mode is a bit gash, but the robot mode is outstanding.

 

I know, but seeing as mp-10 is like £150-£210 i dont think im going to scrape the money to get him.

 

I remember watching a few videos on hybrid convoy and while it's amazing at what they were able to pull off at that scale, it is in no way a substitute for MP01 much less MP10. I classified it as a WST MP.

 

Hybrid Style Convoy is a great toy and collectible, and I love mine to death, but it's no replacement for MP-10.

 

I'd save up or wait and see what Amazon.uk ends up selling him for. You really will get that much more toy out of your purchase IMO

 

I might just do that, but if i don't buy mp 10 because of a high price then i will more then likely be saving up for the year of the snake optimus and omega. Although im abit worried about them using the mold with the mouth :/

 

Basically THS-02 is like a miniature MP-10. Great bit of engineering but not really a substitute, no!

 

There's no comparison between the two. MP-10 trumps it.

If you're itching for any old Optimus Prime, sure, Hybrid Convoy is fine. He's even pretty good if you ignore that horrifying alt mode (which you may not want to).

But he is not, in any light, comparable to MP-10. If you've been told this, you've been lied to. It is impossible to exaggerate how good MP-10 is. You won't find a single person who owns MP-10 tell you that they wish they'd gotten Hybrid.

What's wrong with the original MP Prime? You can get one of those for about £60.

 

I would not call it a replacement, but it is an awesome little piece of engineering. I've got him, the black repaint, and an extra one of him as well, if you do decide not to go with eBay. I was even lucky enough to get my hands on the hybrid Galaxy Convoy, which I consider to be superior to the original Galaxy Convoy. They're super neat!

Yep, check your emails, all the orders have been cancelled. No doubt people tipping off hasbro and amazon got them wondering. But wouldnt they find out in the end when they see that there a couple of grand loose? so I wreckon it was better that they cancelled it now rather then a few days before the order goes out  

We should of know it was too good too be true :/
