I'm sittin here drinkin beer with my friend, and we have a slight disagreement concerning 3rd party products. I decided to create a thread to get an outside general opinion.
I believe that Has/Tak is in some way behind (as in reaping profit) the current slew of 3rd party items. I feel that they could possibly be charging us fans 4 times the price because "its 3rd party" as opposed to simply releasing 'warbot' for example as Springer in TRUs. (I believe secret meetings could very easily have been held.)
He believes that Has/Tak is making plenty of money "not giving a shit" (as in not worrying one way or the other what is released by these companies). Lawsuits cost more money than worrying about various companies using their characters likenesses in foreign countries (which is where they are made, so he says that is how these companies cant get sued. Because in my mind, I felt they could easily be sued, however, he says there are different laws that would prevent that in those countries.)

I can say for a fact that that at least 4 of the 3rd party companies are in NO way associated with Hasbro. I very seriously doubt the rest are either.

3rd party companies exist because people are capitalists at heart. They get an idea for something that they think the fans will want but Hasbro will not make, and then they make it.

This topic again? The short answer is no. Just because Hasbro seemingly looks the other way (as long as copyrighted names and logos aren't used) does not mean that they officially support (much less work with or are behind) third parties.

There is no evidence to suggest Hasbro is behind any of this, and to think so is silly. Hasbro has stated publicly in the past that they are unhappy with 3rd party groups.

    Listen to your friend.

Hasbro has probably made 100s of thousands, if not millions, on the DOTM toys that most people complain about. The 3rd party products make 10s of thousands at best.

I'm pretty sure it was a topic recently. Most of the other cases though are inside the multiple discussion threads about 3rd Party figures and Hasbro

Yes laws are different from country to country.

China is absolutely famous for not enforcing US copyright laws.

I just wanted to say I truly appreciate all the input. My buddy made his way home, but he read the comments and we had a healthy handshake and hug over our argument lol. Me and him get pretty loud when we argue because we grew up as neighbors.
I love the 3rd party stuff, just ordered that Wheelie today. My friend told me to live my life, enjoy my toys and other interests, and stop worrying about illuminati and world secrets and stuff. Probably good, no great, advice!
I'm glad I can still come here and chat with you guys even though Im a total jerk alot.
