I am a fan of G1, IDW, and "normal" Transformers. Bad storytelling is not something I like, ROTF and DOTM irritated me. I love the Dinobots. I hate seeing my favorite characters misinterpreted. I don't like plots that revolve entirely around the humans. I do not have high expectations for this movie. As a diehard TF fan, is this movie worth watching or should I skip it? Whether or not I go see it will likely be dictated by the answers I get on this thread.

    Yes.

AOE is definitely an improvement from ROTF and DOTM storytelling wise. The characters are awesome, and the plot is not entirely human focused.

Please check to see if there are other threads about this. There are several, "Is AOE good?" or: "Should I see AOE?".

Well if you're a diehard Transformers fan then see it. And there is more 'bot interaction time with absolutely no military involvement which flooded the last two.

It sounds like (from your interests) you may be disappointed overall, but if you look for them, you'll be able to find bits that you enjoy. Essentially, give it a chance.

You have a choice on whether or not you're gonna go see TF AOE. If you're a die hard TF fan then go see TF AOE, if you're not then don't.

btw no one is forcing you to go see the new Transformers movie.

Honestly, the Dinobots are not in it as much as marketing wants you to think, so there's that. So that might be a deal breaker. Besides that, the movie is an improvement, with better characters and focus. Personally, it even supplies some favorite iterations of characters.

A lot of Animated influence, too. Don't know if you care for that.

The dinobots were originally going to be introduced in TF5 but they decided they might as well push them up to TF4. So despite a large amount of Dinobot screen time, they're going to return in TF5 no doubt.

These movies aren't "fun" if you don't enjoy them...

Yes, go see it, if only to form your own opinion of it. I thought it was a great movie, definitely worth seeing.

    No.

If you're someone who disliked the first three films, you're going to hate AOE.

It depends on why you didn't like the first three, but I recommend you skip it. Personally I liked it, but I liked the first three (in varying degrees) also. AOE is probably the second-best TF movie in my opinion.

    Things you should know:

-The main plot revolves around Optimus Prime. He's very important in the movie.

-I say "main plot" because there is so much going on at once. There are several parallel sub-plots going on at the same time, and it gets confusing. The movie is almost three hours yet I couldn't keep up with it. Since you mentioned storytelling, the above might be a good reason to skip the film.

-There are lots of explosions, of course. The presentation hasn't changed much.

-There is no toilet humor that I could see.

-The Autobots get a lot of screen time and a lot of great lines. Lockdown is probably the best villain so far. He almost makes evil look appealing.

-The Dinobots basically don't do anything, and they don't show up until very late. They kill lots of stuff in over-the-top fashion, I guess, but they aren't very important. They don't speak, either. Grimlock is the only one who actually gets screen time and behaves like his namesake.

-Galvatron basically doesn't do anything, but he still does more than Megatron did in DOTM.

-Of course, one of the sub-plots revolves around a MacGuffin. Once the MacGuffin shows up the movie starts to lose its charm, because it's basically the same thing we've seen three times before.

Only if you want to risk the 50-50 chance between liking it and being seen as a degenerate by most or hating it and having your view of Transformers ruined forever.
