I can see the point about Ironhide, but with NEST officially deactivated, there wasn't much for them to do at the base. It wouldn't have been that hard to come up with a scenario that frees most of the Autobots and gets them in on the action. That would have given them more screen time and would have made for a better movie. I hated how sidelined they were. Fangirl dream here, but it would have been awesome to Ironhide as acting leader in a fight scene.
We all know Ironhide is as much of a badass as Optimus, why the film makers choose to sideline him so bad in the second one compared to the first just angers me. And don't get me started on Ratchet, poor thing had it even worse. But after the Mexican standoff with Sideswipe and his mentor, the potential for these two that was never sought through just angers me. They could have been the Wheelie/Brains or the twins of ROTF.
Ratchet was probably the most underutilized of all the TFs and he's one of the TFs that always seems to pop up in any TF series. He did quite a lot in TF1 but got left out of the action due to all the new TFs that popped up in ROTF and DOTM.
Sigh... don't remind me. He could have at least had a small action scene against a decepticon in dotm. But I guess we never will see that happen. Unless the next film is made in this continuity.
Just imagine if they got R. Lee Ermey (Geico commericial and Full Metal Jacket) to voice him. That would be epic.
The original group of TFs from TF1 should really have been the Autobots they focused on in the sequels instead of all the newcomers. Another thing that I would have changed if I was doing a remake of the trilogy.
But there's only a head left. They would have to find a body for him as well or just make him a floating head in a jar like in Futurama.
Was thinking he might be built from "nothing" kind of like how the allspark shrunk down in TF1, but the reverse. Start from nothing end up large. Same personality, voice, and identity. Ultra Magnus would be a title.
That could work but would most TF geeks accept that? I think that'd be one thing a lot of people on here would complain about.
I think it wouldn't be that bad, especially after TF Animated, where Magnus was the title given to the commander of the Elite Guard. Nice nod to that series too.
As I'm not that well-versed with TF Animated, thanks for pointing that out and how it could possibly work.
Total agreement with all of this. It's all the potential lost that really gets me. So much there, so much wasted.
Give Ratchet some sheet metal and the matrix of leadership and Ironhide will be back good as new. While you're at it, give Ratchet the two halfs of Jazz.
