If he gets a mask at any point in the film, he'll be a pretty cool reimagining of the character. Glad they didn't go full S 'n' M.
It was interesting on how they combined the 2 characters of Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo. At first I wondered how that would work, but seeing this now it looks like it can have great potential.
I know nothing about the Iron Man mythos save what was shown in the film, so I don't know if he's correct in the character sense, but it is intriguing.
I can only imagine this being him early on in the film, with him eventually getting his ass beat being so exposed like that. All Tony could do is fire some rockets or bullets at him from a distance. DEFINITELY needs more armor. Maybe that's what happens. Maybe Justin Hammer has Whiplash challenge Stark at Monaco, Whiplash gets easily defeated and Hammer is humiliated. Hammer and Whiplash then go and rebuild the suit with loads more armor, like an Iron Man armor with whips. That could work. Or better yet, Hammer and Whiplash then go and rebuild the suit with loads more armor, but make it the Crimson Dynamo armor, Whiplash being Russian (Ivan Vanko) becomes the first Crimson Dynamo. ^That would make more sense since the first Crimson Dynamo was also the creator of the armor and his name was Professor Anton Vanko.
Looks better than many of the outfits Whiplash had in the comics, he's ranged from S&M to having a long green pony tail. Whirlwind would have been a better baddy.
Looking at that pic it makes me think its an early appearnce of Whiplash. The pants look like those prison suit jumpers, and the whole frame looks very cobbled together. Its very much likw when they released the pic the MK I suit. Thats the vibe I'm getting. And as for armor, the comic Whiplash didnt have a great deal of armor either. He was how ever able to spin his whips (Via mechanical means) at such high speed as to create a soild shielded to protect himself. That coupled with them being a flexable titanium made for a very effective shield against even repulsor blasts. And before you ask, yes they could even chip Iron Mans armor in the comic. This Iron Man comic history nerd moment brought to you by Armadajetfire, Iron Man Fan since 1985. (Issue 200 was my first issue, and since then I have gotten a complete run of issues. )
To be perfectly honest, that picture does nothing to enhance my interest in the sequel....not that it's high to begin with.
It's clear that's an early pic of the armor Whiplash will be using in the film. He has a very "test subject" look about him. Throwing Iron Man's villians in different variations of his, or other, high tech armors is an easy way to add badguys in his league. It's been working pretty well in the new cartoon and I can see it working well in the new film.
