that should just be an extra MFT matrix.

a lot of us use that as our stand in matrix. it was really a great design that scaled extremely well.

 

Very much recommend getting some shock oil on that. Hoping we avoid another Dubhe situation.

 

Bits of plastic flash, or just plain plastic dust off the joint itself, clogging things up as you worked the joint.

 

The one thing IF seem to get wrong EVERY DAMN TIME is the joint tolerances. They're always too tight or something else fucks them, such as Heat Death's exploding hips and shoulders.

 

personally i will gladly take tight joints anyday over loose ones.

at least with a tight joint you can throw a drop of silicone oil in it and call it a day.

but a loose one is always a struggle to get it perfect again.

Got mine, but felt it had too much white so threw in more purple - not exactly the same tone, but works fine.







My only true complaint is that the wings in alt mode should be further back on the fighter body since they point forward.

 

What are everyone's opinions on the alt mode? I think it looks a bit messy, and it's the only thing holding me back from not getting this figure. I LOVE the robot mode.

 

Tbh the alt mode is trash, in person it looks even worse than it does in pics.

If you need the alt mode to be decent this ain’t it, neither is Galvatron.

Their bot modes are definitely awesome though, and the trio look great together.

 

I feel the same. If the hands and feet didn’t stick lazily out the back and the cockpit hinge didn’t totally break the sculpt it would be good enough for me, but this is one of Iron Factory’s worst alt modes in my opinion.

 

who buys IF figures for the alt mode???  

but seriously, IF has done far worse with other figures and this one i would deem "presentable", aside from the typical "hey, here are the bot hands" which IF seems to have on most recent figs with interchangeable/poseable hands.

 

Yeah can confirm, I thought the alt mode looked cool in the pictures and when I got it I hated how everything tabs in and just looks so haphazard

I know, I know, but I've been mainly collecting the samurai-inspired ones recently and so far lio convoy and bludgeon have had pretty cool alt modes in person.

 

Wait! IF figures have alt modes? This changes everything!

 

I get his alt mode isnt for everyone. Lots of moveable armor pieces on a slender frame (that chest to mid-section!) means a lot of folding instead of hiding away the alt-mode bits. Where could you even put them?

I think he could be improved by moving his white wings from the back of his shoulder pads and onto the sides of his shoulders. That way it removes the pivoting component on the back of the shoulder which may clean up his alt-mode some.

The nose cone being redesigned may help with the appearance of the alt-mode. And I wonder if his backpack were connected to a ball peg/mushroom rather than a clamp, you could turn the backpack upside down which could clean up his bot-mode.

Are any of these changes reasonable for our intrepid 3D printers?

 

That’s how I felt about their Galvatron. I honestly thought I could appreciate the altmode, but in hand? Boy oh boy, does it suck. The only reason I am keeping him is because I ended up really digging how he goes with my Master Made Devastator (with the non-SD head).

I was thinking of getting Cyclonus and Scourge but eh, don’t think I'm gonna bother.

I do have hope that with this line the design liberty is gonna enable IF to channel some (much needed) creative energy into their altmodes. Haven't gotten into it yet, but I am looking forward to Banzaitron. And the next badge is looking pretty promising.

 

I still haven't transformed my Galvatron and Cyclonus, but I can say Scourge isn't bad. He has the easiest alt mode though so that doesn't carry as much weight.

 

IF Galvatron is my first Galvatron ever, and so I was really excited to get him (grew up watching the 86 movie). Bot mode is gorgeous, but the alt mode is painful. Seeing his legs and -more obviously- his fists jut out struck me as extremely lazy.

For Cyclonus, I'll pass but I'm eyeing the lastest Cyclonus reveal. I think it was NA. Very G1.
