    **Warning: Minor rant ahead**

Well, an unhappy finish to the seemingly endless saga of my quest to receive the missing face/card/instructions for IF Absolute Zero...

It's been 2 and a half months -- and counting -- and I still have not received the missing items from TFS Express (China). I have had to initiate all communication to receive updates on the issue -- and there have been updates -- and it now seems they're still waiting on the instructions from Iron Factory.

On top of that, I was blindsided with the fine print that I would have to pay an extra shipping fee to have the items (which I should have received in the first place) mailed to me. I already paid a hefty initial shipping fee for the product with the expectation that it would be worth it, coming with the extra face I wanted.

So now I have to decide if it's worth it to pay even more after an already drawn-out and unpleasant experience or just cut my losses. This was my first -- and last -- transaction with TFS Express.

    ************

On a brighter note: The figure itself is gorgeous and fun. Glad I waited for the repaint before springing for the figure.

Received my Absolute Zero yesterday. Extremely pleased with how it looks, but was surprised to find that it has some mis-assemblies. I spent close to an hour huffing and puffing and swearing, trying to get the two sides of the torso (with the front dragons legs) to peg in on either side of the dragon chest panel, just absolutely unable to get things to line up correctly. Transformation videos made it look effortless, but mine just would not work, despite apparently matching. Finally, I dug out my Heat Death and compared how everything was arranged. Turns out, my Absolute Zero's right shoulder - the part that's under the shoulder pad - was rotated 180 degrees. This put the dragon chest panel off from where it was supposed to be by a tiny bit, but that was enough to throw the entire dragon chest assembly out of alignment. I had to remove the shoulder pad, rotate the shoulder piece 180 degrees, flip the bar that the dragon panel attaches to back out, and then put the shoulder pad back on. Disassembling that shoulder pad was a nightmare, because the very thick peg that goes through the shoulder was incredibly tight, and it took a tremendous amount of force to get it to wiggle out. Everything lines up perfectly now, but it was an incredibly unpleasant experience - and if I didn't have a Heat Death already, there is no way I would have been able to figure the issue out, because it's so subtle.

The piece that connects the wing to the body, is also wrong on mine - I also have two left pieces, which makes it so the right wing can't stretch out as far away from the torso as the left one. It's a minor enough issue that I'm just gonna live with it - the part is attached with a pin, anyway, and I have no desire to punch pins if I don't have to.

The right forearm is also missing the two screws that hold it together; the only reason it's not falling apart is because there's a small panel on there that happens to hold it together. I'm definitely gonna contact the vendor (The Chosen Prime) for help with this. I had a similar issue with another Iron Factory product, the not-Swindle from the War Giant set (one of Swindle's lower legs was completely missing screws), and TCP was able to get me the required screws, although it took forever to get them from Iron Factory.

Really surprised by this lapse in QC from Iron Factory.

Wow. Thank you for posting this. Trying to peg in the chest was a nightmare for me, too, despite it looking so easy on the transformation video. This very likely explains why. Good to know.

wow, sorry to hear all the QC issues. i had a minor but heavy and noticeable scratch across the light blue paint on the one shoulder out of the box. so reached out and will be getting a complete arm assembly to fix my problem. :p  also needed a missing thumb for my IF UM.

Literally searched out this thread because I was looking up how to swap the Absolute Zero head and if what I suspected (unscrewing) was the right way or not because there's nothing in the box or on it to suggest it. So anyways I bought Heat Death and instantly ordered Absolute Zero and a bunch of other IF figs due to these lil' dragons. Welp.

So I just got my heat death last week and his hip crumbled. What was the verdict on getting replacement parts from showz?

Go for it. I requested a replacement for this guy in early March, and it arrived a few days ago.

Was a pain in the ass for me and took about 7 months to get. They kept forgetting about it and when I would message them about an update they made me start over from scratch! They did this 3 times before I finally got the part.

Btw, make sure you check the other one really good too just in case.

how tight are the ball sockets? if it's tight then adding a small dab of silicone lube is recommended and should help reduce possible issues.

also retailers are at the mercy of the factory in getting replacement parts. so it could be a pain and occasionally a long wait. just be patient and consistently follow up regularly to get an update on the status of your request.

Thank you for this!! Not owning Heat Death, I was getting so frustrated. It's bad enough IF's instructions are shit.
After doing what you did his chest pegs together fine

EDIT: Had no idea the different head was limited. Glad I impulse preordered at TF Source and got it as I love ice dragons more than fire dragons lol.
The different head gives him a Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat vibe and aside from it looking cool, it's even more fitting

okay so i'm confirming i also had the same issue with the right shoulder on Absolute Zero. there may be a batch that was assembled wrong as not only was it incorrect on the original arm of the figure, but it was also assembled wrong in the replacement piece i got. i basically did the same as you in that i had to compare Absolute Zero to Heat Death before realizing what the problem was. without being somewhat familiar with the correct transformation of HeatDeath and the comparison, you literally wouldn't know what the issue is since the shape is only slightly fatter on one side, but with it facing the wrong way, you can't bend the arm enough because it contacts the shoulder socket and can't get past it. if you can't get the bicep to 90 and folded down to the shoulder socket to get the fist to fit into the chest cavity, you won't be able to line up that arm so the chest plate is in the correct spot for the side chest pieces to tab to. :p

i did the surgery and it wasn't fun but it's not too hard. only issue is that even after removing the screws, it was hard to split the shoulder pieces apart as they were actually still connected at the corner tip at the shoulder socket. i'm not sure HOW they assembled it that way but i guess they inserted one shoulder half and then folded the other half down and into the correct spot. i tried to keep that small piece of plastic connected to both halves, but there wasn't a way to do it easily and it broke. but it wasn't too big a deal as it was hidden underneath the pieces and wasn't structurally needed. it was almost like it was left over flashing they didn't bother removing.
