I'm sure someone will make a Shapeways version out of plastic, or you can cast wheels out of greenstuff epoxy (it cures into hard-but-still-bendy plastic). I do it all the time for little accessories I want more of, but don't want to pay the cost of another figure to get.

 

I'd be very surprised if they didn't do a clear or partially clear Mirage. Actually, wouldn't it be devious if they did something similar to Ocular Max and release two that have different transparent parts that assemble into a fully transparent version, forcing completionists to buy it 3 times?

 

That kibble backpack though.... happy for those going with him.

 

The backpack doesn't thrill me but when properly transformed it's not too extreme. Other than that relatively minor flaw - one I can tolerate more at this reduced scale than at the MP level, where there are more options for hiding stuff - I think he looks great and am looking forward to getting him once the interminable CNY Dead Zone is over.

My daughters just started watching the G1 toon with me earlier this week and to my surprise they've been very into it. During the show I've been letting them zoom my IF Jazz and Sideswipe around, which they love. Makes me think I'll buy an extra one of these so that they have one they can use to play without me being too uptight about him being rolled into the baseboards repeatedly or sent on a scouting mission to underneath my refrigerator (missions Jazz thankfully returned from unscathed).

 

This doesn't have a thread (of it's own with its actual name) for some reason so making one.

I love their aesthetics as well, for the most part. I wish the female robots weren't all super tiny with oversized, cutesy heads though.

I'm not too keen on the rubber tires either. The figure still looks good though, so I'll probably just keep him in robot mode 99% of the time.

 

I'm in love with this line. I have quite a few IF offerings preordered, including Phantom.

Just a small heads up, but the title of the video has a small typo on the toys' ID number.

what on earth do yall plan on doing with this mirage. i am sure none of us will have any issues with his tires ever. this isnt 1984 and toy production has come a loooong way. plus as children we banged the shit out of our toys. now as adults they are mostly static collections.

if and i mean a big "IF" there was ever an issue with the tires it would be some 10-15 years down the line. i am sure we could all just run to our fridges and 3d print out some new ones by then.

 

Merged the newer Phantom discussion into this thread and took the Mirage portion out of the title of the old Iron Factory thread. It's good to get these IF figures all separated a little.

Looking forward to this guy. I doubt MS could make a better looking one. Honestly although he's not slavish G1, I actually prefer that and this guy has details where the others sacrifice detail for toon accuracy. It doesn't make for cool looking robots.
