Not 100% sold on the alt mode, but since I don’t tend to keep my Galvatron’s in alt mode I will probably get this. The bot mode looks like it will be sweet when it gets coloured
yeah i kind of wish they would have tried a little more on the alt. but the bot mode is what i need most out of this.
the IF doombringers will look insane next to my unicron. they will also go well with my collection and i cant wait.
I don't think even guido guidi knows what IDW cybertronian mode blaster looks like in alt mode.
IF has constantly done designs from IDW and rarely not in cybertronian mode. I'm not sure where they got the hound design, but they have been true to this from Blaster to Mirage.
This is to say no one has ever looked at IF for alt modes.
Also This Galvatron looks to me very much like the one from Infestation (Nick Roche) and the alt-mode looks pretty spot on (sorry no images on google). If what you mean is the alt-mod doesn't look much like the 86 galvatron then thats cos it wasn't designed to.
Looks nice. I wonder how articulate the alt mode is.
How articulated does a space howitzer need to be?
Point the barrel up to blast Starscream? lol
Wonder if he'll come with some space dust and a crushed crown
I think he should come with optimus arcee and soundwave and a detachable head
I know I'll be making his axe, if he doesn't come with it.
I LOVE the Galvatron design from this cover, I can’t see anyone making it, but I’d love it if they did!
the galvatron history arc is (imo) is... unusually good considering its Barber.. sorry had to be honest
I love that cover. One of the most epic IDW TF covers ever. If only RID had revolved around some dark secret and connection between Galvatron, Rhinox, and Alpha Trion instead of the mess it turned into.
I’m with you both! I love the idea of ancient Galvatron the barbarian and Barber did better with it (though I haven’t read all of rid) than with other elements of that book, for sure.
I guess he had to follow a lot of Hasbro decrees in the book most of the time, like placing Optimus, Arcee and a couple of other characters front and center. Maybe he had little room to be really creative. There were arcs where I really liked what he was doing, the Galvatron barbarian arc for example, the one where Prowl was all cloak and dagger with the Constructicons was pretty fun too. There's stuff he wrote that I really liked, but a lot of the later stuff especially really wasn't to my taste. Making Onyx Prime a Shockwave in a suit was among the lamest things he did IMO.
I really enjoyed those panels ... and that story arc .. until they retconned shockwave into liege. Atleast they closed that story arc in the unicron saga by showing RC in her .. 'galvatron mode' in one panel? ...
Would've loved to know/see how did the brothers stop caring for each other (why when), how did Jihaxus get to ... do what he did to him.. her... , why does she hate him, why is galvatron still hanging out with jihaxus after...
Also, more on the the beast headmasters and where they came from would've been cool.
and gladiator rc and galvatron deserved more space.
also more on RC alpha-trion and Omega participating in genocide would've been interesting.
Slag renaming himself is an earlier and perfect example of what you are saying. How astrotrain wearing spectacles and keeping it hidden from Megs fits in the hasbro lobbying narrative I don't know.
man that is one of the best things about IDW v1. they had so many silly little gags that just gave the character's new quirks and more personality than ever before.
when the MFT astrotrain drops i really hope he comes with glasses. if not i will be sure to track a set down.
also, do you think IF has the nuts to do an arcee repaint out of this mold? all you need to do is shave the beard, change the color palette and make the shoulder armor a little smaller and it is there.
That Galvatron story was the last good run from that series. I just re-read RID. The first arc with Megatron’s return is actually fantastic. Dark Cybertron was ok, then the Galvatron stuff was really good. After that the series was ok. Loved the idea of Galvatron basically being a crazy Conan the Barbarian.
Anyway, really looking forward to this figure.
I hope the colours on the final product look more like his Spotlight appearance
You're not the only one. Seeing some of the stuff Legends scale has coming makes me question the size scale I"m collecting at currently.
