If they could make one with a Silverbolt that didn't suck, that'd be ace
superion should be a piece of cake for IF whenever they get ready. they got the legends jet game locked down pretty well.
not being familiar with any of these characters, i’m tempted to buy him just for the combined mode. but it seems like the two arm cannon dudes are just that, and serve no other purpose in terms of the combined integrity. wonder if i should just get the core 3, but somehow the completionist in me will keep poking me to get the other two just because they belong together...
The other two come with the combiner kibble, but are a two pack to soften that blow. Kinda. Most expensive single box of the set.
Much easier to do it at legends scale where people accept MASSIVE parts forming and separate pieces like the “bust” and feet being entirely extraneous
Here’s the combiner made with just Alkaid and Merak and the bust parts from the front and back, plus a shot with the arm cannon bit of the bust.
look out folks...the great and powerful @Peaugh has dropped by and blessed us with some much needed awesomeness.
thanks for your services and the post. your work here is much appreciated.
so who will make the 3d back block first?
Nice but I have a question for someone who has it in hand...
can you fold Merak’s extra claws forward to mimic Helex’s sub arms for the combined form?
Also, I know I’m a bit late on the Combined name suggestion, but... Arbitraitor?
Carnage. It's not creative but it sounds mean and kinda sounds like Tarn.
Those claws are on ball joints so it doesn't look like anything would prevent you from being able to do that.
In keeping with IF's star theme: Tarnal Nova
So something I noticed during this video... Looks like Merak has 3 slots on his legs for the locking mechanism.
Fully collapsed for tank mode.
Fully extended for individual robot mode
And a middle slot, which I'm thinking should be used for combined mode.
In the video, they use the fully collapsed position, and this makes the red bits on the combiner's upper thigh stick up under his hip flaps.
Edit: To be fair, looking at the instructions in the video, it does seem that they indicate the legs should be fully collapsed.. hard to tell.. but there's still that extra slot so....
Using the middle slot on the legs, I think this will give it some more clearance, and add a cm or so to the overall height.
Also, I love that you can store the purple mask on his butt-flap if you want to use the Megatron face instead. Still 100% self contained.
Was gona ask if Tarn wasn't needed for the head but a few post after yours saw he wasn't needed, Tarn is just a filler.
I still like Tarnation.
Bit looking at the naming convention of IF I think his name is Spirits of the D.E.C., which doesn't really role over the tongue, or D.E.C. for short.
With the big roster of bots who have been a Wrecker it's going to be really hard to find the perfect match for everyone. Think IF should just do the Wreckers without combine feature and start with the combiners we all know like Superion, Predaking, Piranacon...
Also an option.
Do hope that if they do Superion the don't just jus the seeker mold for Air Raid, Fireflight, Skydive and Slingshot. I'd like them to have their (in)famous back kipple.
i really doubt they would use the seekers for anything other than seekers.. but IF does have some nice airborne transformers. anything they do should be great based on their past work.
Wow. That combined mode is ... super ugly.
However! No way can I say, “they sacrificed so-and-so for this combination gimic...”
Each of the individual bots are outstanding and I seen pretty much zero compromise anywhere.
The most I could ask for that isn't around would be ab crunches in at least Alkaid that isn't present due to the exploding they call combining. That and I fear more of the joints wearing or loosening from the overabundant dismantling
You can get more range by angling the connection at the body forward, but you'll want to do that BEFORE you plug the arm onto the back, or that first segment can't move past the tread on the hip.
Here's the extended left side:
and the blocked side on the right:
And here's a shot of the arms' reach in both configurations.
I think it's safer to leave that first joint behind the tread, because even moving it forward BEFORE plugging it in has some slight clearance issues that could cause eventual stress/cracking.
Separate names with a comma.
