    Ok, I'm not normally one to get all goofy over DC's space reports... but ION shields are just fucking cool.

    So now all we have to do is collect all of the money in the world and put it into research and development.

    I don't see that happening any time soon, but it is a neat idea. It must be really frustrating to be a scientist. I know they fight over budgets. Well, at least at the collegiate level.

    Awesome. I know that one of the largest design concerns in Mars missions has always been solar flares and the like. That some spacescraft designs put inches of water all around the crew areas of the ship to stop stray ions, but had much concern about a major solar storm.
