Seems like both sides built their fair share of weapons
but I can't remember the Autobots building something
that WASN'T a weapon..

Autobot inventions:
the Immobilizer
the Negavator (and the tunnel drone that protected it)
Autobot Spike (ok, technically Sparkplug built this one)
the lightning bug from Cosmic Rust

Decepticon inventions:
Space Bridges
"New Cybertron" city
the Solar Needle (an energy collector)

I guess there was Grapple's power tower but he needed
the Constructicons to build it.... heh, Prime bashed the
idea because it didn't have any weapons on it  

Any others I missed?

 

I would imagine the Autobots would have more scientists and engineers, simply because of the nature of the two factions, but the Decepticons would have a larger proportion geared to weapons development, and researchers who were willing to... bypass... ethical barriers in research.

 

Uh... the Dinobots. Also weapons, arguably.

Can we put "combination technology" on the side of the Decepticons, I know it depends heavily on the continuity.

I've always hated the idea of Safeguard as a "combiner", while technically correct, it doesn't feel right to me. Meh...

 

Shockwave invented multi-changer technology.

 

In S3 Perceptor built that giant battery thing that woke the dweller in the deep...I think.

 

That's right and he also invented Corrostop... which saved Megatron, I guess.
